Did you know that Britney Schmidt is part of a 20-year NASA mission to reach Europa, one of Jupiter's moons, and explore its icy surface - 100 km of ice deep - using robotic vehicles?

Her team has conducted tests in Antarctica, the place on Earth with the largest ice sheet, where they have already been able to drill to a depth of 750 meters, a tiny fraction of what will be needed on Europa. One of the goals of the project is to study the chemical composition of Europa's ice.

Did you know that differences in the landscape affect the navigational decisions of wild animals?

Andrea Presotto studies spatial cognition and navigation in primates and elephants. Her main goal is to understand how animals move in the wild and what aspects of their landscape influence their daily navigation.

At the GLEX Summit 2024, Andrea Presotto presented the example of the Crab-Cracking Capuchins of Brasil. She explained that, more than ever, the increase in human population has affected the way wild animals interact with their landscape, which is reflected in the species' travel decisions.

What does it feel like to be inside a rocket on its way to space? 🚀

Mike Lopez-Alegria explains: "Inside the rocket, we're very focused on our job, our work... but the more I travel into space, the more I appreciate and enjoy the experience. One of the great sensations is the incredible acceleration that never seems to end until we reach a speed of 8 kilometers per second".

Mike Lopez-Alegria is an astronaut, test pilot and commercial astronaut who currently holds the second longest EVA duration record and the fifth longest spaceflight of any American at 215 days.

Do you remember what you were doing during the COVID-19 pandemic? You probably learned to bake bread or knit... Sabrina Thompson had the idea for the first gender-inclusive astronaut suits!

That's right, when the lockdown was ordered, Sabrina was in Amsterdam, feeling trapped and depressed. That's when, as she told us at the GLEX Summit 2024, her creative spirit awoke and she knew what she wanted to do: astronaut suits for women. "Any female astronaut will tell you that astronaut suits designed for men are not ideal for women. They're a problem for going to the bathroom, for example."

Currently, Sabrina's team is refining both the flight suit and a prototype pressurized space suit tailored for female astronauts. Her vision prioritizes style, functionality, and empowerment.

Known for her contributions in the field of biotechnology and proteomics, Italian biologist Martina Capriotti developed an interest in studying marine pollution and protecting the marine environment when she found human waste (trash) during her early dives as a teenager.

At the GLEX Summit 2024, she spoke about the threat microplastics pose to marine life and our health. She reminded us that taking care of the oceans means taking care of ourselves.

Did you know that Juan Pablo Culasso, a blind bioacoustic engineer born in Uruguay, works with his wife to make nature trails and places accessible to the blind so that everyone can enjoy them?

Juan Pablo Culasso has been recording and disseminating nature sounds for more than 20 years. He has already published more than 15 works depicting bird sounds from the Americas and gives lectures and courses about nature, accessible tourism, and birds.

For this bioacoustic engineer, nature is magical and we should all learn to listen to it, love it, and preserve it.
