DJ DOUBLE | Est 1998
22 years and still going strong! What a great experience is has been to mix music for people wherever life has taken me. From the UK to Spain, Amsterdam, Toronto, America and Portugal where I now live and work as a full time DJ. Born in Manchester, the year was 1984 and a shift in music was happening. The way music was recorded and the mediums were changing and improving, the introduction of digital instruments and in the late 80’s, the capability to MIDI program music into an Atari ST back then changed everything.... LITERALLY EVERYTHING!
Fortunate to have grown up as a youngster with the influence of the 80’s and straight into the 90’s as a teenager meant I grew up in one of the most memorable times within music. My influences stretch over an eclectic range of genre’s from classic music (I’m a Pianist) to the hugely complex timbre’s of the Drum n Bass world, there’s very few genres of music both from the popular and worldwide music collections I haven’t played a song from at some point.
What would you find me listening to at home? I’m a Huge and I mean HUGE! Reggae, Lover’s Rock, Dancehall & Bashment fan and can often be found singing along to my favourites hits from growing up hearing my pops play them on the 12” Vinyl format and old wooden Hi-Fi system in the corner of the living room. That Hi-Fi played house party’s and get togethers growing up, even did the cocktail and welcome drink for my parents wedding. You just can’t beat the old equipment hey! Having DJ’d bars, clubs, function rooms, private houses & villas, boats, weddings, corporate & private events for 22 years this year! (Wow, getting old Wes) My experience grew through firstly showing up, providing a professional service and of course... Mixing up a party for people to get down on the dance floor too.
Skip forward to 2020, It was time to build a dedicated DJ website with my history and timeline throughout music as a live performer and DJ. When starting to look through my history, flyers and programmes I have kept in my music box all my life, It quickly emerged the volume of time I had actually been performing to an audience which started from a very early primary school age.
