𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗮𝗺 𝗧𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗸𝗼𝗿𝘆?

Maryam Tafakory trabalha com cinema e performance. Nascida e criada no Irão, 𝗧𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗸𝗼𝗿𝘆 é uma artista visual que faz colagens textuais e fílmicas que juntam poesia, não-ficção especulativa e material de arquivo. Explorando os diferentes registos através dos quais as imagens falam, ou se recusam a falar, o seu trabalho tenta dissecar atos velados de apagamento - de corpos, intimidades e histórias. Os seus projetos baseados em investigação consideram o que é frequentemente negligenciado e descartado como trivial ou excessivo, analisando lacunas históricas, regras sociais e histórias q***r ocultas.

[𝗘𝗡] 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗮𝗺 𝗧𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗸𝗼𝗿𝘆 works with film and performance. Born and raised in Iran, 𝗧𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗸𝗼𝗿𝘆 is a visual artist who makes textual and filmic collages that bring together poetry, speculative nonfiction, and archival material. Exploring the different registers through which images speak or refuse to speak, her work attempts to dissect veiled acts of erasure – of bodies, intimacies, and histories. Her research-based projects consider what is often neglected and discarded as trivial or excessive, looking at historical gaps, unspoken rules, and concealed q***r stories. She has an ongoing body of films, performances, and video essays in dialogue with post-revolution Iranian cinema.

A partir de 12 de julho, a Solar – Galeria de Arte Cinemática recebe "Which pain does film cure?", a primeira exposição em território nacional da cineasta e artista visual iraniana Maryam Tafakory. Com obras inéditas e já reconhecidas, a mostra reúne instalações “site specific” que abordam de forma crítica e poética temas como o lugar da mulher, o desejo e as contradições da sociedade iraniana. Tafakory, cuja prática se aproxima do ensaio audiovisual e do “found footage”, propõe um olhar atento sobre aquilo que as imagens silenciam.

Paralelamente, o 33.º Curtas Vila do Conde – Festival Internacional de Cinema dedica-lhe um programa integral entre 12 e 20 de julho, com sessões de cinema (uma retrospetiva parcial e uma Carta Branca), visita guiada, leitura performativa e conversa com o público.

Simultaneously, the 33rd Curtas Vila do Conde – International Film Festival will dedicate an entire program to her between July 12th and 20th, with film screenings, a partial retrospective, a carte blanche, a guided tour, a performative reading, and a conversation with the audience.

O cinema está de volta a Crato com a apresentação de dois programas cinematográficos, com curadoria da Agência da Curta Metragem e da Solar - Galeria de Arte Cinemática. Este ano marca o 20.º aniversário das contínuas contribuições da galeria para a comunidade cinematográfica, razão pelo qual se celebra este programa especial no festival Waking Life. Entre os filmes que serão exibidos está “O Jardim em Movimento”, juntamente com outros títulos notáveis, como “Ruby”, “Undisclosed Recipients”, “Stop - Salas de Ensaio para um Materialismo Histórico”, “After the Law” e “Strokkur”. Estes filmes serão exibidos na secção “Moonscreen”, conhecida pela sua atmosfera distinta e experiência cinematográfica imersiva. Os participantes terão a oportunidade de ver estes filmes nos ecrãs do festival nos dias 19 e 21 de junho de 2025.

[𝗘𝗡] Cinema is making a comeback in Crato with the introduction of two film programs, curated by Agência – Portuguese Short Film Agency and Solar – Cinematic Art Gallery. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the gallery's contributions to the film community, which is why this special program is being celebrated at the Waking Life festival. Among the films set to be showcased is “The Moving Garden,” along with other notable titles such as “After the Law”, “Ruby,” “Undisclosed Recipients,” “Stop - Rehearsal Rooms for a Historical Materialism,” and “Strokkur.” These films will be featured in the Moonscreen section, renowned for its distinctive atmosphere and immersive cinematic experience. Attendees will have the opportunity to view these films on the festival screens on June 19th and 21th, 2025.

Na sua 20.ª edição, o projeto 𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗠𝗔𝗥 voltou a encher a 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿 – 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗱𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗮́𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮 com o melhor da animação portuguesa! Mais de 5.000 visitantes passaram pelas nossas sessões de cinema, oficinas e visitas a esta exposição tão original e interativa. Este ano celebrámos o talento nacional com filmes de: Maria Trigo Teixeira, Miguel Lima MAL, Dimitrije Mihajlovic, vicente nirō, André Carrilho, Patrícia Rodrigues e Joana Nogueira.

[𝗘𝗡] In its 20th edition, the 𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗠𝗔𝗥 project once again filled 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿 – 𝗖𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆 with the best of Portuguese animation! More than 5,000 visitors attended film screenings, workshops, and guided tours to this special exhibition full of interactive installations and originality. This year, we celebrated national talent with films directed by: Maria Trigo Teixeira, Miguel Lima, Dimitri Mihajlovic, Vicente Nirō, André Carrilho, Patrícia Rodrigues, and Joana Nogueira.

No encerramento da 𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗠𝗔𝗥 𝟮𝟬, a 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿 – 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗱𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗮́𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮 e o Teatro Municipal de Vila do Conde acolheram várias atividades que proporcionaram momentos memoráveis a famílias, jovens e todos os que nos visitaram. Desenhar é, para Maria Trigo Teixeira, um processo de descoberta emocional e intuitiva, onde o gesto livre dá origem às primeiras ideias visuais do filme. Os desenhos de conceito expostos refletem essa fase inicial, enquanto no interior da sala se revela a produção, com animações feitas numa única folha de papel, inspiradas em William Kentridge. Nesta sala, o público é convidado a explorar estas técnicas e a vivenciar o universo particular da animação.

[𝗘𝗡] For Maria Trigo Teixeira, drawing is a journey of emotional and intuitive exploration, where spontaneous gestures give birth to the film's initial visual concepts. The concept drawings on display highlight this early stage, while the room's interior showcases the production process, featuring animations created on a single sheet of paper, drawing inspiration from William Kentridge. In this room, the public is encourage to delve into these techniques and immerse themselves in the unique world of animation.

Um filme-instalação que reflete sobre a fragilidade da memória e o impacto do tempo na reconstrução das lembranças. Através de uma experiência sensorial e participativa, o público é convidado a entrar num universo de memórias pessoais e intergeracionais marcadas por silêncios e incertezas. A instalação, com recurso a feedbacks de vídeo, transforma o espectador em parte ativa da obra, integrando-o num mundo de memórias em constante mutação.

[𝗘𝗡] A film installation that delves into the fragility of memory and the effects of time on how we reconstruct our recollections. It offers a sensory and interactive experience that invites the audience to step into a realm filled with personal and intergenerational memories, often marked by silences and uncertainties. By utilizing video feedback, the installation transforms viewers into active participants, immersing them in a continuously evolving landscape of memories.
