Festivalul Dracula Bass este primul eveniment din lume dedicat exclusiv chitării bass electrice și contrabassului. Am plecat de la premisa că în peste 60 de ani de istorie a rock-ului vedetele au fost întotdeauna chitariștii, așa că am decis să le acordăm mai mult spațiu celor care, alături de baterie, duc greul secției ritmice. De ce să nu poată, de exemplu și un bassist să se rupă în figuri și s
ă plece acasă cu gagica cea mai mișto din public?
În afară de acest aspect oarecum trivial, desigur însă că-i prețuim pe toți cei care au dedicat ani grei de studiu acestui instrument și care iubesc muzica de calitate. Acum au un loc unde să intre în competiție cu alți bassiști talentați și, mai ales, să-i asculte pe greii acestui instrument, atât români cât și străini, live! Cât despre cei care se întreabă de ce Dracula, e simplu: mânuit cm trebuie, acest instrument e la fel de răutăcios și de violent ca celebrul conte valah. Iar dacă se lasă noaptea și frecvența lui coboară sub 30 de hertzi, nu numai că o să vă răscolească toți fluturii din stomac; mai mult, o să vă intre în sânge în vecii vecilor. Mwahahahahaha!

The Dracula Bass Festival is the only event in the world exclusively dedicated to the bass guitar and double bass. Well, for over 60 years of rock music, the star has been the headbanging, foot-on-the monitor guitarist, blasting out screaming solos and lapping up the appreciation. But why not let the guy in the shadow, the person who, along with the drummer, gives the music its driving rhythmic force, have a bit of the limelight, too? Why shouldn’t the bassist be the one who gets to go home with the hot girl from the front row? It’s clear that there’s no shortage of fans of this undoubtedly cool instrument. And so, thanks to the Dracula Bass Festival, there’s finally a platform where bass-heads can compete with other gifted musicians, and also enjoy some of the best fretboard-walkers from all over the world. The answer is pretty simple: because, just like the famous Valachian count, the bass has something subversive, disturbing, almost malefic about it. And when the night falls and the frequencies drop below 30 Hz, it can really give you the creeps. It’s certainly an instrument to get your blood pumping – something The Count himself would no doubt have appreciated.
