Closing of Festival Kreol Sesel 2023: A Look Back and Forward

Today, 21st November 2023, Mr. Emmanuel D’Offay, the Executive Director of Creative Seychelles Agency within the Seychelles National Institute for Culture, Heritage and the Arts, provided an insightful overview of the festival's highlights, public feedback, and future plans.

As he mentioned- ‘Festival Kreol was a resounding success, celebrated for its traditional events and steps will be taken to ensure a more authentic experience in future.

A significant highlight was Praslin's Creole celebration which merged on the celebration of International Creole language day on the 28th October, which lasted an entire weekend and featured the successful ‘Vilaz Kreol’.

Public involvement was remarkable, with events like the 'Balbobes', ‘Tifin’, ‘Lafoli lanmod and other Creole Spectacle attracting large, joyous crowds, and this year, the festival gained more international attention thanks to partnering with Tourism Seychelles with innovative promotions on platforms such as 'ParrApi'.

Looking Ahead – Festival Kreol 39th edition plans are already underway, introducing more engaging events, and traditional favorites. Also the 40th edition in 2025 is set to be a bigger festival with a focus on attracting a wider international participation including more innovative ideas such as a creole carnival, aiming to elevate the festival to a new level of excellence.

🎉 Celebrating Success of Festival Kreol 38th Edition 2023! 🎉

Yesterday, Friday 17th November 2023 was an extraordinary moment of gratitude at the Thanksgiving ceremony for the 38th Festival Kreol. It was a day to honor the firm commitment of our valued partners, whose dedication has been essential to this year's Festival Kreol success.

It started with a vote of thanks from the Secretary General for the Seychelles National Institute for Culture,Heritage and the Arts, Mr. David André, to all the staff within the Seychelles National Institute for Culture,Heritage and the Arts who worked tirelessly to make this year's Festival Kreol event a success, especially the Events team at Creative Seychelles Agency, and the Festival Kreol Committee. A special Thank you also went to this year's Festival Kreol numerous dedicated partners. Mr. André went on to reflect on how lucky we are as a Creole nation to be able to not only successfully coexist as a proud nation of different beliefs and background, but also to joyfully, appreciatively and PROUDLY celebrate our culture together as one. He believes that we, Seychellois, should be seen as an example of a united nation across the world.

The evening continued on with Miss Loura Barra, Mrs. Eugenia Albert, and Mrs. Linda Hoareau receiving their well-deserved certificates from Mr. Emmanuel D’Offay, Executive Director of Creative Seychelles Agency for their fascinating performances in the ‘Spektak Popouri’.

Secretary General David André, Permanent Secretary Cecille Kalebi, and Executive Director Emmanuel D’Offay presented trophies to our invaluable supporters. The event concluded with an engaging video showcasing this year's Festival Kreol Sesel highlights with the background music of Mr. Rolan Madeleine's "Dife Kreol".

The Kreol International Magazine officially launched its first Seychelles’ edition yesterday. The event was held in presence of the editor, Mrs. Georgina Dhillon. The London-based publication is a quarterly lifestyle magazine designed to showcase the vibrant culture, traditions, people, and places that make up the Creole identity across five continents.
