Frankly I want to barrel through every speaker that plays Christmas music during October. I love the spooky season, but this country doesn't. The best part is how it's the only holiday that pokes at my fantasy and occasionally paranormal loving heart although I'm not a fan of corny horror movies. Psychological horror is cool, fantasy horror, I'll take anything but the "jumpscare" type, I feel more fear at the thought of zombies running after my ankles and brain.

Last sunday, when I dressed as Lambert from cult of the lamb, a lady turned to me and said something that I didn't catch the first time. She repeated then, "Happy Halloween." And I smiled back to greet her the same. Such small reactions can make our day, yes?

As I opened my eyes, I found myself lying down on a bed in a brightly lit room with neat ,white padded walls surrounding me. As I looked around the place, I felt an eerie sense of dread around my shoulders from the familiarity of the room. I wanted to escape—to break free—but I was bound by leather belts around my bare body.

Soon after, a team of nurses entered and surrounded me with their presence and equipment. They too looked familiar. I could feel my heart pounding against my chest as they kept glancing at me and preparing their tools. I didn't know what was going on. All I could do was watch as one of them prepared a large vial of anesthesia in the syringe. "No, wait! Get me out! I don't want to be here! I'm scared!" I yelled while I helplessly struggled on the operating bed. I begged them to set me free, but none of them even looked to tell me anything to ease my growing anxiety, like I was just a dead body. The anesthesiologist then injected the dose through a vein in my arm, and my body started to freeze, but I didn't fall asleep. I felt like panicking on the spot, but my body was as still as a stone. I darted my eyes from side to side, watching them loosen the belts on my body and prepare me for a surgery I never wanted. But then one of the pretty nurses approached me with a smile so sweet it could make any man fall for her, which made me feel at ease. The nurse bent down to my ear and whispered softly. "You're awake. We know." I internally screamed from fear, desperately trying to break free and force myself awake as the scalpel was lowered on my throat. I couldn't do anything but watch the small blade come closer and closer to my throat.

Then I woke up yelling from the top of my lungs with tears in my eyes while my wife, Kheila, was trying to calm me down. "I don't want it. Get away, get away! Leave me alone!" I kept yelling until I opened my eyes to see my wife comforting me after the nightmare. I looked around realized that I was in our room in the Raven's Manor. I leaned into the warmth of her embrace around me and felt relaxed. "I'm glad I'm not in that place anymore," I said to myself.

"my reflection"

It took a little while of me, just there, standing in front of the metallic elevator door. Staring at me was my annoyed reflection, it felt so long before i could hear the elevator sound, signalling that I could enter.

"Oh thank god." I uttered before it could even open. I wanted to go home so badly, my feet hurt, my head hurt and I was dying to sleep.

I briefly forgot i was suffering deep inside and beamed when i saw my friends in the elevator. I assume they were going home too, it's a shame we got separated into different blocks. Of course they cheered as well, greeting me and laughing with me. We caught up with what happened with our day in a few minutes, unfortunately I could not hide the fact that my shoulder was already hurting. All they could say was, "I'm pretty sure that'll be gone by later." And laughed.

The lights flickered, I furrowed my brows. It wasn't that unusual that that would happen as the building was of course already old, so I paid no attention. It was even weirder when it stopped by the 5th floor, which no one inside of the elevator pressed, my friends were also weirded out. So we closed it, shrugging our shoulders and continued to talk.

After a few seconds, the light flickered again, something that made me jump in surprise. They all laughed, and I laughed as well as they teased me.

As soon as I heard the elevator sound again, I bid my good byes, smiling at my friends, laughing and slapping their shoulders before turning my back to leave.

I turn back around, and I saw no one in the elevator, except for my frightened reflection on the metallic walls.

Once upon a chilling night, in a small enchanting town, Halloween was fast approaching, bringing with it a flurry of ghostly delight. The sly moon peeked through the wispy clouds, casting an eerie glow upon the streets. In the heart of this town lived a quirky group of friends: Jack, a pumpkin-headed prankster; Chloe, a witch with a mischievous cackle; and Oliver, a clumsy ghost who hardly ever stayed in one place for long.

Jack, being the mischievous pumpkin he was, had concocted a plan to transform their neighborhood into the spookiest place ever. Armed with his pumpkin army, he devised a brilliant scheme to cover every doorstep in town with an endless supply of jack-o'-lanterns. Of course, transforming pumpkins into mischievous creatures wasn't without its challenges, but imagination was their greatest weapon.

One misty twilight, the friends gathered at the edge of the pumpkin patch, ready to bring their plan to life. Chloe twirled her broomstick with excitement, Oliver floated nervously around, and Jack gave a mischievous grin. As the moon rose higher in the sky, their enchanted carrying bags began to fill with glowing pumpkins, each carved with its own playful expression.

With a touch of Chloe's wand, the pumpkins sprang to life, hopping and giggling as they made their way to each doorstep in the town. Through the night, the pumpkin army grew, covering the sidewalks, porches, and even popping up in unexpected places, like hiding in mailboxes or perched atop streetlights. It was a sight to behold, both spooky and hilarious.

As the town's residents woke up to the whimsical spectacle, laughter echoed through the streets. Some couldn't help but join in on the fun, happily placing pumpkins of their own outside their homes. The town soon turned into a whimsical wonderland, with pumpkin-headed creatures of all sizes peeking from every corner.

Word spread fast, and soon neighboring towns caught wind of this mischievous extravaganza. On Halloween night, carriages filled with witches, wizards, and goblins flooded in, eager to witness the legendary prank. The town's pumpkin army had become a must-see attraction, drawing visitors from far and wide. Jack couldn't help but flash an even wider grin at the success of his plan.

Halloween night arrived, and the town was buzzing with energy. Children in imaginative costumes scampered from door to door, collecting treats and giggling at the sight of the pumpkin army. Spooky music filled the air as the moon smiled down upon the festivities.

In the midst of all the excitement, Jack, Chloe, and Oliver stood on a rooftop, surveying the chaos they had unleashed. Jack couldn't contain his laughter as he watched a group of trick-or-treaters get a playful scare from a group of dancing pumpkin-headed scarecrows.

As the night wound down, the moon bid its farewell, and the pumpkin army began to retreat. The town was left with memories that would be cherished forever, a Halloween like no other. The mischievous pumpkin-headed minions returned to their pumpkin patches, ready to rest until next year's shenanigans.

With a wave of Chloe's wand, the town returned to its ordinary self, filled with grateful laughter and happy memories. And as for Jack, Chloe, and Oliver, they basked in the joy of having created an unforgettable Halloween, filled with imagination, creativity, and a dash of mischievous comedy.

" I walk through the crowded streets~

Kids all around me talking about treats~

With every step I take my heart pounds , with a uneasy heart beat~

The rain falls slowly on us all, but we continued , with the splash of it under our feet~

They walk up to strange homes, and are answered by strangers, calling out, "Trick or Treat"~

And the strangers hand it all out, and the kids received, with it all being free~

The night goes on, and grows darker, but so do the festivities~

Everyone's dressed up, and no one can truly tell who they are when you try to see~

And suddenly I stop to wonder, I've said it was I this whole time, but in the end, was it really me?~

I do not know, for sure, I cannot be, but I'll leave you this, until next year, let this be the
Happiest Halloween-"

Is everyone over their post convention blues yet? It's been a few days now since the final day of north hobby expo, we all got to experience the nerve wracking raffle another year around. My legs were at it's end being there from morning till evening, I have no stamina 😭 - Keira

I personally think the stage has a charm of it's own. Could just be me, I like standing in front of people; at the same time I can't socialize even if my life depended on it. Ehem, moving along now...

⭐ Writing tips pt.2 ⭐

Brief tips on Improving your writing style & building your characters

1). Direct, short and concise. You can apply this to your essays as well! When you write, try to use little to no filler words. Look at your sentence and ask yourself if word x would still mean the same if you take the word out.

Filler words aside, being simple is always the way to go when you write fiction. You don't need grand, extravagant vocabulary, you just need your readers to understand what's going on. Crafting your scene relies on way more than just the words you use.

2). Take notes of your characters and their qualities. This will help you create an interesting cast! Lets say you create a main character whose really cocky, they have a timid bestfriend. If all the characters have similar to nearly the same traits the story will be bland because there's no dynamic amongst characters and nothing to set them apart.
Another trick is to take note of their speech differences! Does your character like to use a specific phrase a lot?

You're writing a character whose usually anxious? Then this character is probably fidgeting a lot or speaks awkwardly! Take note of everything. And make sure to make your characters realistic because no one likes characters that are too out of touch. Mary Sue's I guess?

3). A good protagonist. Likeable, or perhaps really interesting. If your protagonist is awful then chances are your readers will drop the story early because no one wants to spend hours reading about someone insufferable. If you want a bit of a challenge, then you can write up an anti-hero.

Anti-heroes lack traditional hero traits, so they may have some morally questionable aspects but the readers still have a reason to cheer them on.

---

I'll stop there for now! More tips to come!

Lately I've been pushing myself hard to write and finish my current work before the end of this year. I've only got a chapter and epilogue left to go! I've had a wonderful few months of seeing my main character, Clarissa, grow from an isolated blacksmith with trauma from her former occupation as an assassin into an individual that can enjoy spending her time with other people.
It seems my readers like her as well.❤️

I'm open to giving users help here or on Wattpad (MissApparition) feel free to dm if you're looking for some feedback on your writing! Or for anything else.
Keira M.

Happy writing!
