After talking to couples and getting married myself, I saw that couples often spent more time and money than they would have liked on their weddings. The argument that we only do it once often wins.⁠

Couples also had problems with making smart decisions to prioritize the most important aspects for them while creating a read thread since some decisions had to be taken at an early stage while others were left until later.⁠

Couples that planned their wedding also had many problems handling the stress that comes with that job.⁠

Why I almost burned out while planning my wedding. Well, where do I start? I had dreamt about my wedding day for as long as I could remember. We spent 1,5 years planning 12 hours of our life.

When you say it like that, It actually sounds a bit crazy. But the truth is that you often have to start planning your wedding that far in advance. As a designer and perfectionist, I spent a lot of time finding the perfect color combinations and styles. Pinterest kept me up at night more often than not, and by the time everything was set, I had probably planned 3 weddings and changed my mind. ⁠

Planning a wedding can be super stressful, and then suddenly, you are supposed to let go and enjoy. It is easier said than done, but it is possible. To succeed with this, I recommend that you reflect on what you need from others to relax, start delegating early in your detailed planning process, and have clear handovers with the responsible person. Your wedding day is all about you; you should relax, enjoy and have as much fun as your guests.⁠⁠⁠⁠

Why am I doing this? The short answer would be that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE everything about weddings and design. The longer answer is that last year when I got married myself, I realized how much hard work goes into planning and designing your dream wedding. How hard it was to find a style and stick to it. Even though I’ve been working as a graphic designer for over 8 years, I was overwhelmed by the never-ending options. And when we finally had decided what route to go for, the struggle of finding everything we needed in the same color palette began. This was a time-consuming process that took me months to recover from. ⁠

That is why I started WED STHLM to help couples create their dream wedding without burning out in the jungle of napkins and flowers.⁠⁠⁠⁠

Hey everyone, maybe it's time for a reintroduction. My name is Carolin DeLotuz, I am a woman with many titles, mother, wife, founder, designer, business developer, problem solver, structural queen, and a passionate wedding freak, just to name a few. Three tips on how to work with your wedding color palette:

1. Remember that you are the one holding the reins. You choose whether to elevate or tone down your color palette. The most important aspect is that it represents the tone and style that you want for your wedding.

2. Select a color palette that contains 3-4 colors or nuances. This enables you to play around with all the colors/nuances or stick to 1-2 primary and 2-3 accent colors.

3. Vibrant colors need room to breathe. Vibrant colors work best where the colors have room to breathe, for example, outdoors or big spaces.

I have a saying, “Shoot for the stars, and maybe you will land on the moon. That wouldn’t be so bad after all?!” What I mean by that, in this case, is to follow your vision to the best of your ability, and even if it doesn’t turn out exactly how you would like it to be, it will still be amazing.

Planning and designing a wedding often means a lot of research, making a million decisions, buying, and sometimes even returning a lot of stuff, all of which are very time-consuming and need to be done at the same time as life is happening. This left us in a state that took months to recover from, both mentally, physically, and financially after the wedding.

I wanted to create a more time-efficient solution for couples planning their dream wedding, and WED STHLM was born.

1. We love your kids, but we prefer to celebrate this day with our adult friends.

2. Please note this will be an adults-only celebration.

3. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate children – thank you for your understanding.

4. Although we love your little ones, this is an adult-only affair.

5. We love your kids but thought you might like a night off. Adults only, please!

6. To allow all wedding guests, including parents, a night of relaxation and uninhibited revelry, we respectfully ask that no children attend the reception.

7. We love your wonderful children, but this day we want them to stay with their babysitter.

8. We respectfully request no children under 18 at the reception.

9. Regrettably, our chosen venue is unable to accommodate children. Professional babysitting will be provided at the hotel.

Professional photographer, is it worth it? My answer is YES, YES, YES!!! We all know that professionals will deliver the beautiful wedding photography that we frame, hang on the wall and share with our friends and family.

But something that really hit me when we got our wedding photos was how our photographer not only captured us in the most breathtaking way but also captured the details of the whole day for us to remember.

We got married on a beautiful (and hot) summer day at the end of July, and we occupied the swimming spot in the area for our ceremony. Right after our ceremony finished, the dock filled up with people who had respected our ceremony and kept a distance. It was such a vibe of happy people that gave us their best wishes. These are pictures that bring back the same laugh today that I had on the day in July 2021. Remember that when you think about your photographer.

This image summarizes my feelings right now quite well. It is over one year ago that I walked down the aisle, and I still remember the full spectrum of feelings. Nervous, happy, and terrified of tripping on the stairs as everyone looked at me.

Today, it feels like I'm doing it all over again. About to launch WED STHLM this fall, nervous, happy, and terrified of failing everyone that is following along this journey. You are now more than 300 people here, and WED STHLM isn't even launched yet.

300 people might not seem like much in today's social media world. But the support of each one of you warms my heart and gives me the power to continue this journey. Thank you!
