2nd floral installation at Changi Airport by Mrs. Pandora Ip, assisted by her students.

In celebration of Singapore’s 60th anniversary, this floral installation by Singapore Sogetsu Association stands as a quiet poem in form—a reflection of a unique expression that is shaped by dialogue and exchange. Bold lines and rhythmic curves weave together local textures and Japanese aesthetics, evoking the island that flourishes through openness and diversity.

Set within a space of constant motion, it offers a moment of stillness—an expression of harmony amidst the flow of the world.

Ikebana, an art form with centuries of history, finds renewed resonance in Singapore, a place where traditions meet and transform. The Sogetsu philosophy—that beauty can bloom anywhere, with any material, in any moment—echoes the essence of this island: rooted in heritage, yet unafraid to reinvent.

As we mark SG60, may this arrangement speak not only of resilience, but of the cultural tapestry that defines Singapore’s artistic spirit—where ideas from many worlds converge, intertwine, and blossom into new forms of beauty. In this evolving landscape, every creation becomes a tribute to harmony in diversity.

The art of Sogetsu Ikebana

was introduced to Singapore in 1957, by the late Mrs Kazue Kato Kim. She established the Singapore Sogetsu Association (SSA) in 1966, where she presided over as Founder-President until her passing in 2016.

Currently helmed by Mrs Pandora Ip, a Sogetsu veteran with over two decades of experience, SSA hopes to continue touching lives and effecting positive change through floral art.

In line with its founding mission of embracing compassion, beauty, and altruism in support of society’s welfare, the Association is passionate about helping those in need.

Every year, SSA organizes floral demonstrations by renowned local and international Sogetsu Ikebana masters to raise funds for local charities. Exhibitions supported by Sogetsu members are also regularly held to encourage greater public awareness of Sogetsu Ikebana, and for members to express their creativity.
