The Soji screen-inspired art piece reinterpreted the traditional design in a modern way, reflecting the evolution of Sogetsu ikebana.

Key Elements:
1. Split bamboo structure: Maintains the traditional essence while providing a unique texture.
2. Black paint: Adds a sleek, modern touch.
3. White paper accents: Creates a beautiful contrast, symbolizing the harmony between tradition and innovation.

Sogetsu Ikebana Philosophy:
1. Breaking away from traditions: The art piece embodies this spirit, showcasing the flexibility and creativity of Sogetsu ikebana.
2. Accessibility and inclusivity: By bringing ikebana into modern homes and outdoor spaces, you're making this traditional art form more approachable and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of age.

The art piece is not only a beautiful tribute to the Soji screen but also a testament to the evolving nature of Sogetsu ikebana.

Don't miss this spectacular event, take many memorable photos and enjoy nature 😍.

Kawana Sensei's "Organic, Inorganic" workshop at Japanese Association Singapore on 9th September 2024 was an eye-opener and a valuable experience. Most, if not all participants, received advice from an artistic point of view, which left members with a fresh approach to ikebana.

The masterclass workshop was part of Singapore Sogetsu Association's 58th Anniversary Charity Events, with the aim of raising funds for Children's Cancer Foundation.

Thank you to all members for their participation and continued support.

UltraLuxe X Singapore Sogetsu Association
UltraLuxe, Asia’s premier festival for niche luxury, partnered with the Singapore Sogetsu Association to present a stunning Ikebana Floral Art Installation. This exclusive masterpiece adorned the CIMB VIP Room at the Ultimate LuxeScape, held at the iconic TENT@Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza from October 4 to 13.

The Inspire High Tea on October 5th was an invitation-only event, celebrating the artistry of Mrs. Pandora Ip, President of the Singapore Sogetsu Association, with an Ikebana arrangement that embodied celebratory hues and showcased exquisite materials, including painted bamboo, camellia branches, ilex, and hydrangeas.
Proceeds from the commissioned artwork will be donated to the Singapore Sogetsu Association’s chosen charity. Opportunities like this not only raise vital funds for meaningful causes but also spotlight the artistic beauty and cultural significance of Sogetsu Ikebana.
Distinguished guests included longtime donors of the Singapore Sogetsu Association, CIMB representatives, and UltraLuxe VIPs.

Jeweluxe x Singapore Sogetsu Association: Inspire High Tea , For An Ode To Nature was held on 5th October, 3pm at Tent@Ngee Ann City, Civic Plaza with a Sogetsu Ikebana Demonstration by Mr, Bernard Tay, Riji, Sogetsu School Japan.

Among his inspirations for his pieces were: an elegant modern-day ring designed with curvaceous petals and a necklace made of geometrically cut stones.

For the ring, Mr. Tay was inspired by the accentuated curves, thus created a container made of recycled white plastic bags, mimicking the ring's shape. He used preserved bracken ferns shaped by wire to represent the embedded emerald, whilst orchids embodied the surrounding purple sapphires.

For the necklace, Mr. Tay fashioned a geometric shape out of bamboo, which he spray painted gold, adding materials that complemented the colours in the necklace.

The art of Sogetsu Ikebana

was introduced to Singapore in 1957, by the late Mrs Kazue Kato Kim. She established the Singapore Sogetsu Association (SSA) in 1966, where she presided over as Founder-President until her passing in 2016.

Currently helmed by Mrs Pandora Ip, a Sogetsu veteran with over two decades of experience, SSA hopes to continue touching lives and effecting positive change through floral art.

In line with its founding mission of embracing compassion, beauty, and altruism in support of society’s welfare, the Association is passionate about helping those in need.

Every year, SSA organizes floral demonstrations by renowned local and international Sogetsu Ikebana masters to raise funds for local charities. Exhibitions supported by Sogetsu members are also regularly held to encourage greater public awareness of Sogetsu Ikebana, and for members to express their creativity.
