5.15-6.45pm: Gafieira Footwork in Samba

Being a dancer is truly a wonderful experience. As an artist, you have the ability to express yourself through movement and bring characters to life on the stage. It’s an incredible feeling to step into another character’s shoes and tell their story through dance. The freedom of movement, the passion, the discipline, and the connection with the audience all make being a dancer a truly magical experience.

Brazilian born and bred, Gianne won the Queen of the Carnaval Competition in her home town, Florianópolis, at the age of 18

Trained in Classical Ballet and Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Dança de Salão (Brazilian Partnered Dance) and her biggest passion - Afro Brazilian Dances including, Samba - she has become one of the world’s most dynamic Sambistas, with a long track of accolades.

Top 10 of So You Think You Can Dance Australia. Lead Dancer of the Off-Broadway production show Brazil!Brazil! New York Dance and Performance Bessie Award's nominee under the “Outstanding International Performance” category, Gianne has been living her dream, travelling the world as a Professional Dancer and just recently she became the Australian Ambassador of APASB (the Brazilian Samba Passistas Association).

One of her main goals in life is to share her culture with as many people as possible through her classes, workshops, performances and social media. Gianne also believes that Afro Brazilian Dances are a powerful tool to keep in balance, our body, mind and soul.
