“A CALL FOR THE INCLUSION OF BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT IN THE APUK OLYMPICS 2025-2026 AND ON WARDS.........
I hereby call on the leadership of the Apuk Olympics under the president Ustaz Chan Akondok, to consider including basketball tournament in the annually played Apuk Olympics in Apuk Giir Thiik community.
Since, its establishment earlier in 2012, Apuk Olmypics has brought together the youths, and elders of Apuk to explore their knowledge and competitiveness in different games that include; Football for men, volleyball for both men and women, Dominoes, but a few to mention.
All these games have been a pivot to the unity and talents development among individuals and Payams that participate in it, but there is one more nice game that is missing in our tournament, (The Basketball Tournament). This game helps young people develop that talents and physicality, show their potentiality and versatility on the court.
However, there has been no basketball in Apuk as a whole. Why does it happen so and we have kind hearted people and we are committed to good?
I therefore request the sons and daughters of Apuk, and other kind hearted people to help build a basketball court in Apuk to enable young people to develop their talent and thereafter, the inclusion of the basketball tounmant in Apuk Olympics.
We the youths are inspired by the South Sudan National Basketball Team, (Bright Stars), which holds up tight to their best to represent South Sudan and African Continent in their debuts at the international levels.
Youths all over South Sudan want to play basketball and that could be possible when there is someone supporting them by building basketball courts in different states across the country, and Apuk is part of this beautiful country.
On the other hand, I would also like to appreciate the payams that gave their best during the tournament. Reached the Semi-finals or knocked at the group stage, you still fought a nice fight to represent your Payam”
Thanks.
