Life's so strange. 10 years ago today I released my first "beat tape" on internet: 16 beats that I produced with my Akai MPC 2000 XL II between 2001 and 2003. I didn't have any idea of what was "LoFi Hip Hop" back then... I was just making beats for my friends or other MCs I would like to collaborate with 🌏🌎🌍
But according to some research I did in the last few years, "Lo-Fi Hip Hop" was born exactly in those years when I was making these beats alone in my small bed room by night, smoking a lot and trying to find my way to express my anger, my pain, my solitude, my frustration, my sadness, my melancholy...
My DEMONS 😈👿
I was totally in "The Matrix" and that's also why my friends started to call me "Nio" (or "Neo"). But this might be another story.
