PERMITS: Be sure to apply to the Court for permits for beach, parks, etc weddings.

IRRITATING INSECTS: Be sure to protect your food/buffet stations from both wind and insects if they are in an open area. You can consider safely placing citronella candles through out. Or you can have the location sprayed by an exterminator before hand.

HUMIDITY: Be sure not to neglect your guests if it is too hot. Make sure they are well sheltered and hydrated. You do not want accidents at your wedding were the ambulance have to take your guest(s) away. The rental of large tents with a coolling system/fan can also help.

LOCATION: Choosing the best location should also reflect on your budget. Outdoor Weddings can be more expensive when you have to include shuttle service, tent rentals, toilet rentals and generators to name a few. If you are going with a wedding venue vendor make sure these services are included in the package price.

AUDIO: You may visualise a beautiful wedding at the beach...breezy...sunny...white sand...etc but you must consider the loud crashing waves, the strong gusts of wind and in hope it's a private beach so there are no other frolicking or other distractions by those sharing the beach or park even. Your guests may not remember your beautiful personalized vows but you still want them to hear your nuptials.

Part II

Focal Point: People always tend to gravitate or congregate to one main location. Therefore, choose an area that may serve as a focal point so that guests are not too scattered and lost. If the location is a large one, it may be beneficial to dissect intimate lounge settings.

Accessability: Be sure to choose a location that can be easily accessed by your guests. Keeping in mind the elderly and the those with special needs/handicapped. If this is your desires spot with a few limitations be sure to consider alternative solutions such as shuttle service, mapping or the ability to create ramps etc for those using wheelchairs. Also make sure there are visible signage to key locations (ceremony, reception, bar, restrooms).

Time of the Day: The whether and temperature has a very important part to play here. Be sure to check the whether forecast to avoid choosing one of the hottest day or the rainiest day of the month. Timing is everthing! We live in the tropics, therefore, try not to choose the hottest part of the day for an outdoor ceremony which is between 1pm to 3pm. Be sure to schedule your ceremony time outside of the time frame to avoid the heat. After all you don't want your guests to be burnt to crisps before their first drink. Having a beverage table (lemon/cucumber/distilled water) during the ceremony can be considerate for the weather.

Planning your Dream Wedding

Part I

Is your dream wedding an outdoor set up? If yes, then be sure to take the following into consideration.

1. THE DATE: Make sure to set your date during the dry season. Although setting up tents is a definite option from the sun, tents can only stop rain from coming in once there are pole drapes or full coverage. However you must take into consideration the drainage set up for the flow of settled water at the venue. Hurricane season can also be an element to delay guests or even avoid their attendance which can contribute to food wastage etc.

2. LIGHTING: Make sure to have proper lighting when the sun goes down. You do not want your late evening pictures to be blurry or dark especially if your photographer's lighting equipment fails.
