Budgeting for a destination wedding is easy with the help of a professional planner.
Your planner will be able to highlight key areas - as well as areas that you may have missed or were entirely unaware of. They may also be able to negotiate more favourable rates.
I always encourage my couples to take their time before making any payments.
I've had some couples that have made payments well before exploring the details and, as a result, left struggling and looking for a planner to help resolve the matter. Resolving issues can be a bit tricky when you feel like you're a million miles away!
I feel it's important that couples are well informed before signing on the proverbial dotted line.
This makes planning a really great experience as there are open lines of communication and transparency. It helps with keeping within budget or adjustments.

We love checking out venues for our lovely couples.
Chumbe Island is an all-time favourite. I've been visiting it since I first arrived in 2010, but this time, I had my first overnight stay! Amazing!!! Plus, we were lucky enough to be the only guests staying on the island.
Although I did get the heebie jeebies a little as it grew dark (I watch far too many murder mysteries!😱) I spent most of the evening lying on the beach, staring up at the beautiful starry skies, spotting fire flies, listening to mother nature.
Here, on this unique conservation island, you can enjoy snorkelling, lazing on the beautiful private beach, exploring the island, enjoying the stunning lighthouse views, and even enjoy a night walk to see their protected ginormous coconut crabs.
It's the perfect place for couples wanting to really get away from it all and have an intimate barefoot wedding and honeymoon.
I simply love this place - and hope you'll love it too.

Villa Bluu is a stunning property sitting pretty on a coral rag cliff with views that are priceless - and the hospitality to match.🥂
Whether it's high or low tide, Villa Bluu is always a picturesque spot - but the tide really did give us a run for our money with this wedding! The amount of beach available can vary wildly, as can the amount of sand and rock coverage throughout the year...this affects many areas in Zanzibar.
We did several on-site tide checks in the run up to the wedding, and with the client wanting their wedding set at a specific time, we worked out that it could only work if we brought the wedding forward 1 hour - giving us just a 2 hour window between having ample space to set up AND to hold the ceremony, before the flat rock was visible. 🤯
We were literally stuck between a rock and a hard place! The coral rag wall on one side and some flat patchy rock surfaces on the other, which became evermore visible as the tide receded - and which the client did not wish to see during the wedding ceremony.
The team quickly set up barefoot in soggy sand as the tide receded away from the wall - and we were done and dusted by the time the tide had receded to the rocky surfaces in the water. We achieved our fastest set up to date - and I was left wondering why we can't do a set up this quickly normally... 🤔😅
Couple's wanting picture perfect beach weddings need to be mindful of tides and beach behaviour in certain areas (as well as the weather!), while also being flexible to ensure they get their picture perfect wedding.

I'm up ladders, digging holes, hanging lights, prepping flowers... You name it, I'm doing it! The conventional idea of a wedding planner in pencil skirts, fitted blazers, pristine hair and make up is just simply not me...but not for want of trying! 😂😅
Most of the time you'll find me in flip flops, hair scraped back, in a comfy kaftan or jeans and top, as its simply too damn hot, sticky or impractical for anything else when working on the beach under an unforgiving sun for hours on end! 🌞🌞🌞
I'm in it with my amazing team, racing from A to B, checking on everyone from the team, to suppliers, the venue and of course the couple and guests. 🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️
And by the end of the day, which can sometimes be 24 hours straight, I'm absolutely ditched, doused in sand and sea salt, hoarse, exhausted, and ready for a hot shower before slipping into bed and bracing myself for the calve cramps that always ensue! 😱😅
I've given up on aspiring to the conventional wedding planner stereotype and have decided to just do it my way. This is my way! Take a peek into my inner workings and why I love being a wedding planner in Zanzibar!🥰
