I think my kit is small compared to some people’s, but others will say I bring way too much to my gigs. What can I say, I like to be over prepared and I just love buying and trying all the newest face painting supplies. I really want to order @bodycolorcosmetics waterproof paints after the sweaty 4th of July event, and I’m super excited about getting a hold of some @gtxfacepaint so I can really start making some beautiful split cakes. I see so many face painters making beautiful custom cakes with those and having splitcake making parties and I’d love to do that? Who wants to join me? OK seriously hear me out though. Everyone who paints with me says that I’m a bit extra. I’m like the drummer in a band who is always last to be packed up and gone bc I have so much equipment. I wish I could be a minimalist, but I have a problem. I just like to try all the brushes and I like to have separate brushes for separate colors and I am particular about having enough clean ones to use on the job. I recently bought these amazing angled brushes by Facepainting hub and I needed them in my life bc they work so well. Another thing is that as you can see I have some taped up. I think I over wash them bc some of them the paint comes off the handle after a while or the glue comes off the ferule. Is that just me or anyone else ? Comment below if it’s you too. 🙋‍♀️🤷‍♀️The last thing is that I’m not willing to part with my actual Lowe Cornell brushes. I know I know. King Art makes them now, but Im still not convinced that the quality is the same 🤷‍♀️It’s probably just my skepticism 🤦‍♀️🤓🤔What do you think? Technology can be a double edged sword. This week Google got me all screwed up with some changes they recently made. I realized after replying to several people’s inquiries that my emails were going into their Spam folders. 😩😭 So if you reached out to me recently and thought I didn’t respond, I’m very sorry. I tend to respond within 24 hours of not sooner. So I made a few changes to my inquiry form to help solve this problem. Im also intending on upgrading from a basic gmail to one ending in my domain @riseandshinefacepainting.com but that’s another expense. I don’t think people realize the costs associated with running this business. When people are shocked at our rates or think it’s too expensive, I wish they would understand that it’s not just the time we’re on the job that they’re paying for. There’s so much more behind the scenes work that we do as face painters to run our small businesses. Drop a 👏🏼if you’re running your small business alone and doing all the things by yourself. Who can relate? If you’re new and still just using a gmail or yahoo for your business Be careful that this doesn’t happen to you. You should think about also upgrading your email to a business one ending in your website domain name too. A girl at the party that so painted at today was sitting on the steps crying. At first I didn’t pay it much thought as I was just about set up and ready to start painting. She had a picture of this bird on her phone and she came over and showed it to me and asked me if I could paint it on her hand. At first I thought oh boy, I don’t know if I can pull this off, but I searched for some cute Cockatiel clipart to simplify the design. As I was painting, she was very specific about the details that she wanted on the bird. She started to tell me the story behind this bird. She had been going to the pet store and bonding with this bird that her parents had intended on purchasing. Sadly a few days ago, right when they were going to go and pick up the bird, they told her that she had gotten sick and passed away. That is why she was crying. When the painting was complete she couldn’t stop thanking me enough for doing that special request for her. Once again, my art has brought another smile to someone’s face and brightened their day. On my way out the door from the party, her father stopped me and said Thank you so much for doing that for my daughter and he briefly told me the story too not knowing that she had already told me about what had happened. This job isn’t just about slapping some paint on kids, it’s about bringing joy and smiles to so many people’s hearts and souls. Facepainting friends do you love or hate to paint unicorns? This month is all about the unicorns! Love em or hate them, they’re so popular. I love them and have been drawing, sketching and painting away to get these into my memory bc they’re so cute and popular. For those of you who dint know the @facepaintingschool and @radsimona17 create these wonderful challenges and resources to help face painters all over the world to improve their skills. Being an elementary teacher , I have a love for teaching and learning and am so grateful for all of the free resources available. Many times I’ve considered enrolling in a program just to learn even more. I love to practice and Im a life long learner and teacher at heart ❤️ Eventually I hope to create my own tutorials and classes. But for now I’m just so thankful for all I’ve been able to soak up from some of the best face painters in the world. #unicornchallenge

Can you believe the original Frozen is 11 years old? Despite its age, it is still possibly the most requested face paint design today. There are so many beautiful variations and takes on this design in the face painting world. There’s just something so beautiful about hues of blue and snowflakes and white teardrops and swirls. Plus Elsa’s message of letting it go is so powerful for both kids and adults. She’s actually doing shadow work in the movie by embracing her dark cold powers that she’s afraid will actually hurt others. We all have those shadows that we need to make friends with, embrace and let go. I think that deep down inside a lot of moms can relate to Elsa and that’s what’s kept her staying power for so long. I’ve never had as many requests for a princess as much as I get Elsa. Maybe the Little Mermaid is second 🤷‍♀️How bout you face painting friends? Who’s your most requested princess or girl design?

I bought these glitters from @vividglitterproducts and they are my absolute favorite. They were on sale last month and the delivery is always fast and correct. Not to mention @vividjackie is so nice. I chatted with her a bit last year at Kidvention. I didn’t realize until i went to her site that they sell other face painting products as well besides glitter. So if the bigger name companies are out of stock you might want to check her website out for your face painting supplies. I actually repot these glitters into one round plastic container with compartments so that I don’t have to remove a bunch of lids while I’m painting. Plus the way I was storing them I think sometimes caused the lids to crack so I wanted to come up with an alternative container for them. January is kind of a slow season for face painters so this was the first party I’ve done since Christmas. It was a fairy themed party and the decorations and treats were gorgeous, but this little one had her mind made up as soon as she sat in the chair “a cheetah” I said l,” aww don’t you want a fairy?” Nope cheetahs are so cute. She was thrilled when I added the black bow gem and to her surprise "blinking light up fairy hair"! What do you think of the add on? I only gave her one but was thinking of adding it on as an optional upgrade. Just not quite sure how to price and package it yet? What do you think moms?
