We had a blast hosting the Alexandria Wedding Showcase with Alexandria Living Magazine over the weekend! For our guests we ran a very special giveaway and asked couples to share their love stories and tag us for 50% off their celebration.
Our winner is Jenna Pomponio!
Their Story: Brian and I met in college at 19. We knew very early on that we had a special kind of love. As we entered into the adult world, we valued our relationship more than anything but we also valued our goals as individuals. We realized our goals were pulling us in different directions. In 2019 we made the difficult decision to move apart and have a long distance relationship. Brian moved to Tuscon, AZ to pursue his dream of becoming a pilot and I moved to Destin, FL to pursue my passion for hospitality. Our goal was to spend a year to build experience in our careers so that we would later have the opportunities to choose careers that would bring us back together. We knew that in order to pull this off we would have to work hard, support each other, and have a bit of luck. Our hope was that this sacrifice would give us the security and flexibility to enjoy a great life together. Little did we know that the world would soon fall into a pandemic. Like so many others during this time we faced tragedy, physical and mental health struggles, furloughs, unemployment, and uncertainty. It became nearly impossible to see each other. Our plan to be long distance for 1 year turned into almost 3. But we did gain a new perspective. Our careers didn’t seem so important anymore. We realized how precious family is, how precious life is, and how precious love is. In 2022 we put our plan to the test with a new outlook, do whatever it took to be together again. Brian was able to secure a job with a major airline and commute from DC. I was able to transfer into a remote leadership position with a growing hospitality company. We had the flexibility to move back to the DMV and be together again. We got engaged and bought our first house in Alexandria. After spending 2.5 years apart I cherish every moment we have together. Most of all, I cherish doing life together. Now as we begin planning our wedding in, I can’t wait to marry my best friend and spend a lifetime of moments together.
