After performing in DFW for 14 years, the stars have aligned and I've been given an opportunity to open my own dedicated magic venue. The Hochatown Theatre of Magic in Hochatown, Oklahoma will open this summer featuring stand up and close up magic for all ages. There is still so much to be done but the plan is in motion. Over the next few weeks I'll be building a stage, modifying the floorplan, painting, furnishing, and all the various little things that need to happen to get the doors open.

Thanks to everyone who said this wasn't crazy, and to the one person who said anything not crazy isn't worth doing (Alex Lohmann).

I wouldn't be doing this without Jeff McBride and David Williamson's knowledge and influence throughout the years. Glad I turned on the TV that day when NBC's World's Greatest Magic came on...

Special thanks to my wife Heather for encouraging me along the way.

Why MAGIC?

I became interested with magic at a young age. My best friends dad was a hobbyist magician who started me on my path. Around the same time my parents bought me a magic kit. My interest continued and my parents would drive me out to the Queen of Hearts Magic Shop in Plano. I would watch the employees perform for customers which was the closest thing to a real magic show I had seen in person. Then I saw David Williamson on Worlds Greatest Magic on NBC in the 1990’s which taught me that magicians weren’t always the proper, suave type. David was ridiculous and hilarious. YouTube it.. you won’t be sorry. He wasn’t just performing in front of the audience as if it didn’t matter if they were there or not. He was interacting with the audience on a person level. Then I found Eugene Burger who was a mostly serious, sometimes tongue in cheek, storytelling magician out of Chicago who could make you feel empathy, sentimental, or even a little scared during his routines. Both influenced me greatly.

About 4 years ago I started taking my magic more seriously. I started performing for people other than my friends and family. This is when I realized that magic can do many things. It can be an ice breaker. It can put a smile on a face. It can bring laughter. It can evoke emotion. It can tell a story. It can make you feel like a child again. Magic is just as much of a performing art as any other type of theater!
