Today I closed a chapter of my life!
Due to covid 19 I decided to close Almost Home Catering.
With catering being shut down for several months and more to come because of social distancing and when they open restaurants back up they are only gonna let 25% of seating capacity to be filled it would make it impossible to make money.
On top of that the new board of trustees were trying to get me out! My contract stated that I was to cater all parties requiring food , no outside food was to be allowed . Which is normal practice. We had a meeting and they decided they wanted someone else to take over booking the hall. And we agreed that I would still do all catering that the new person in charge of booking the hall would give everyone my info. Well that never happened and they decided to let people bring their own food!! Breach of my contract! And when I confronted the head trustee she said they had to look out for themselves and had to do what’s best for them! This attitude was also the same when I asked to do Togo order and curb side pick up during the shut down! By law I was supposed to be able to do that. But again the head trustee refused and the president which is the trustees husband said to us,”you doing carry out does not benefit us! Why should we let you do that!”
I decided it was time for me to do what was best for me! They breached the contract so why should I hold up my end of the contract?!
Today we cleaned everything out! With no notice although they showed up. It’s really a shame we did an excellent job for them for almost 3 years! There will be a lot of members that will be disappointed and for that I apologize! We did love serving you all! We will miss most of the members. We were a little family for the last three years!
The rumors I heard was they wanted me out so some of their family members who are in the same line of business could come in! They got their wish!
