This young man went door to door, a common sight on Twitter, but what set him apart was his positivity and determination. Despite being soft-spoken, his words conveyed a genuine uncertainty about how he would receive help. Today, Robnet Wings and partners made a significant impact on his day, marking the beginning of a hopeful journey. I am happy I did what I can. Cc Robnet Wings Scholarships
βI am Daniel Omondi, a 19-year-old from Siaya county. I embarked on my high school journey at St Mary's School Yala in 2019. My dad, who used to fund my fees through his bodaboda business, faced a setback in 2020 due to a leg injury from an accident, leaving him jobless. After the COVID break, my mom stepped in, funding my fees from her small kale-selling business. Despite her efforts, the amount wasn't sufficient, and I faced several school suspensions for fee arrears. Undeterred, I consistently pleaded with the school administration to let me return.
Facing financial hardships, I attended school without pocket money. As I approached the National examinations, I maintained my focus and courage. Upon completing high school, I found myself with a fee balance of Ksh 91,090, preventing me from obtaining my results slip and leaving certificate crucial for university admission.
In collaboration with my mom, we organized a Harambe in our church, raising Ksh 47,000. Additionally, my mom saved Ksh 13,000, bringing our total to Ksh 60,000. With this, we cleared the outstanding balance at St Mary's School Yala, finally obtaining my results slip and leaving certificate needed for university enrollment.βWe at robnetwings want to make a small difference in a mighty way..
