It may have been the 13th of December, but the Maine Stage ShakeSTARS wowed the audience with their abridged version of Twelfth Night in the upper barn. Under the amazing direction of Jessica Bartlett, a young ShakeSTAR herself, the youth cast sang, danced and created merriment in true Shakespearean style for a very enjoyable performance.

The actors were overjoyed by a surprise visit by Mainestage Shakespeare founder Chiara Klein. The rest of the house was filled with family and community members.

While not performed on a grandiose stage with lots of scenery and props flying in and out, the barn atmosphere lent itself amazingly well to the overall feel of the performance.

MaineStage Shakespeare is a resident theater company dedicated to the enrichment of Southern Maine by providing free, innovative performances of classic plays with a focus on educational outreach and community enrichment and the belief that access to the arts is a right not a privilege.

Had the pleasure of being part of a very lovely couple's wedding at Wallingford Farm last night. it is always a joy to see how family and friends come together to create such joy and warmth. The bride made her own dress, the groom "groomed" the grounds without being asked, and her 2 BFF's (of 35 years) decorated our 1790 barn beyond compare! Then they got fancied up and danced the night away!
The barnboards shook them all night long-but the cake was still standing!

It is the last weekend of the Sea Festival of Trees! It is a wonderful way to support local business and charity, and make your heart happy at the same time!
Lots of very fun and unique trees, plus indoor skating.

Check out our "Give Peas A Chance" Tree while you are there. All recycled or natural products (on a completely fake tree, fear not, the irony was not lost on us! But we made sure to use LED lights to do a smidge of penance. LOL)

On Saturday night I had the absolute pleasure of photographing a farm-to-table chef competition hosted by Tigerlilys Events and COLBY FARM, featuring Chef Sam of Ceia Kitchen and Bar, Newburyport, Chef Ryan of Woodland Catering Merrimac, Chef Nick of Seaglass Restaurant at Castle Manor Inn Gloucester, and Chef David of Heritage Truck Catering and Stock Pot Malden.

Judges included Kelly Schetzle, publisher of Northshore Magazine; Heather Atwood, local author and food editor of Gloucester Daily Times; and, Ann Reily, editor-in-chief of Newburyport Magazine.

Here we have two dishes from the appetizer round. Chefs and organizers, please jump in and describe the deliciousness!

The only thing better than this photo from Friday was Adrienne playing the hurdy-gurdy in the field on Saturday!

She played the violin and the hurdy-gurdy -- and was marvelous. Together with the savory smells of the chef's dinner courses, and the flicker of amber candlelight, her music ferried the atmosphere to very lovely shores.
