✨purple carrot✨ dyed home made play doh. I’m Okay so here’s the thing. I’m not assuming that anyone has noticed that I’ve gone dark the past few days with my reels. I’ve been processing a lot of emotions and not focusing on creating reels/ content. Also… my kid is in daycare (LOVE) and I don’t make things from scratch very often. I’m a BIG fan of store bought play doh. That being said… this was a really fun natural dye activity to do with my toddler. Please excuse the darkness as it gets dark at like 4 pm in Michigan now 😭😭. Here’s the recipe we followed for this play doh experiment:1 cup flour1 cup water 2 tsp cream of tartar 1/3 cup salt1 tbl vegetable oil**purple carrot juice** —> not particularly measured. We used the purple carrot juice that was leftover from thawing the bag of mixed color carrots we got from Trader Joe’s. Purple carrots have this cool safe chemical called anthocyanins in them. Anthocyanins Are incredible pH-sensitive, so adding the pH modifier cream of tartar shifted the natural purple carrot juice dye from purple to pink!! Science and art are both so cool. If you’ve read this far, thank you for sticking with me through this chaotic/ stream of consciousness reel post. My mind has been going non-stop for these past 3 days. Be kind friends 🥰#naturaldye #naturaldyeing #naturaldyersofinstagram #themichigandyer #purplecarrot #purplecarrotdye #playdoh #homemadeplaydough
