Tuesday, October 21 is gonna be a blast! Jim & Salli Ratts and Tim Cook will be joining Jon and Ernie for what promises to be a fantastic America's Soul Live at the Foothills Event Space/Foothills Golf Course. Jim & Salli's band, Runaway Express, has been one of Colorado's very best for many years, and they are just as impressive as a duo. Jim's spectacular songwriting and studio expertise are known far and wide, and it's great to have him and Salli back on the ASL stage. Tim Cook is a hoot, pure and simple. One of the most compelling vocalists you'll ever hear, his songs and stage presence are remarkable. The bassist for the internationally praised Subdudes, Tim is one of a kind. Please join us on the 21st for a fantastic evening. And, of course, come early and enjoy the fine food and drink at the Foothills Restaurant. Hope to see you next Tuesday!

Some eagle-eyed America's Soul Live aficionados noticed that the flyer I posted yesterday could have used some remedial proofreading. So...here it is again, properly adjusted and full of information. We're going to have a fantastic show on Tuesday, October 21 when Jim & Salli Ratts and Tim Cook join us. I'm beyond excited for this month's America's Soul Live concert on Tuesday, October 21, when Colorado musical icons Jim Ratts and Tim Cook join us. Jim has been central to Colorado's American Music scene for decades and is one of the finest singer/songwriter/producers in the land. Tim is a spectacular vocalist and songwriter who is part and parcel of the incredible Subdudes. I'm delighted to have such great friends and musicians join Ernie and me at the Foothills Events Space at Foothills Golf Course on the 21st. The iconic Durango Cowboy Gathering in Durango, Colorado, kicks off next week, and I'm raring to go! All the info. is at DURANGOCOWBOYGATHERING.ORG. What a glorious event in one of the world's most beautiful places. I'll be headlining Thursday night's show, plus appearing on several stages during the Friday and Saturday day sessions. I'll also have a ball visiting area schools on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, ramrodding harmonica sessions for the area's fifth graders. Make plans to visit beautiful Durango and take in some amazing western performers, as well. See you there!

I'm beyond excited for tomorrow's America's Soul Live! My good friend Micki Fuhrman is joining us from Nashville, and I'm looking forward to meeting James Kirby, a wonderful talent from England. It'll be a marvelous evening and I hope you can join us for the 7:00 p.m. show at Foothills Event Venue and Restaurant at Foothills Golf Course in Lakewood. This month's America's Soul Live at the Foothills Event Venue is coming up on Tuesday! Micki Fuhrman is an exceptional singer and songwriter whose career spans from the Louisiana Hayride stage as a teenager to stints with MCA and Word Records, and includes accolades and awards as a performer in the Western Music genre. James Kirby is an English performer/writer/singer touring America and blowing critics and concert-goers away. His music is evocative and meaningful, and we can't wait to hear him live. We're fortunate to have both Micki and James join Jon and Ernie for what promises to be one of ASL's finest shows. The show starts at 7:00 p.m., with doors opening at 6:00. September came rushing in, and this month's America's Soul Live at the Foothills Event Venue is coming right up! We're delighted to introduce two of the finest singer-songwriters you'll ever experience to ASL when Micki Fuhrman and James Kirby visit on Tuesday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m. Micki hails from Nashville and is one of the country's foremost singers and writers in the Western and country genres. With an incredible voice and moving songs, she's one of the very best performers to grace our stage. James Kirby is an English performer/writer/singer touring America and blowing critics and concert-goers away. La Veta Mercantile's Emile Dubia told us he's phenomenal, and she's right. We're fortunate to have both Micki and James join Jon and Ernie for what promises to be a show for the books. The show starts at 7:00 p.m., with doors opening at 6:00. What a fine weekend in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska. Such an incredibly beautiful area with fine folks everywhere. Pat's Midwestern roots are deep, and she felt right at home. My longtime pickin' pard Dana Vernon was on hand, and his brother, Rory Vernon, is part of the new Beef, Beans and Bluegrass Festival. Rory set things up, and the Festival's second year was a hit! I got to stand between two of my favorite pickers for two nightly shows, the first a fundraising event in Gering, and the second an outdoor show in downtown Scotts Bluff. Ernie Martinez and Dana really tore things up, and Rory joined us onstage for the Saturday show, as well. Pat and Mary McGinty made it up from Denver to join Pat, Diana, Ernie and me, and everyone had a ball. Can't wait to get back to ol' Nebraska. (So great to see Dana's daughter Dallas and her fiance, C**t, as well. A new home, a new car...and a new life together coming in April.)

La Veta, Colorado is so important in my life. My mother's ancestors settled there after their trek from Georgia in the 1860's and some of my best childhood memories involve fishing the Cucharas River with my Dad. La Veta is one of Colorado's overlooked jewels, and I remember as a young man talking with Louis L'Amour about what a fabulous place it was/is. Each summer, I'm excited to take the stage at Emile Dubia's amazing La Veta Mercantile to spend a couple of hours in Western heaven. Hope you can join me this Saturday for what promises to be a fine, fine time. All the info's below.
