America's Soul Live! Tuesday, June 17. A marvelous show on the books, with Jon and Ernie welcoming exceptional singer/songwriters Dave Schaper and Aaron LaCombe to the ASL stage. Dave's an ASL favorite, a longtime Coloradan with a Texas bent who is a wonderful chronicler of Mountains and Plains. Aaron is part and parcel of the great Texas songwriter community, whose voice and words paint vivid pictures of life and loves in the borderland. A fantastic pairing of guests for this month's show. Doors open at six, and remember to come early for some amazing grub and suds at the adjacent Foothills Restaurant. See you in a couple of weeks!

Tuesday's right around the corner, and I'm excited to head over the Western Slope with Ernie to join my pals Micki Fuhrman and Mary Kaye Holt in Grand Junction, CO. Two of the finest songbirds in all the land, Micki and Mary Kaye are glorious songwriters and singers who are also part of the new Nashville supergroup Gone With the West. We'll be swapping songs in an intimate setting at Warehouse 2565 on Tuesday, June 3, and sure hope you can join us.

Spring is moving along way too quickly. We had a great ASL last night with a full house and more than a few full hearts. More on next month's show in a few days. My pal Micki Fuhrman will be touring Colorado with various iterations of the wonderful Gone With the West band, and checked in and asked if Ernie and I could drive over the hill to join her, along with her bandmate Mary Kaye Holt, for a songwriter's evening in Grand Junction on Tuesday, June 3rd. Of course, I jumped at the chance and hope that if you're in the western part of our great state, you'll drop by to check out this fine songwriter's session. See you on the Western Slope!

Doors open at 6:00, show at 7:00. Come early for fantastic food and drink at the Foothills Restaurant. See you there!

This month's America's Soul Live will be a dandy. On Tuesday, May 20, troubadours Patty Clayton and Steve Pierce will join Ernie and yours truly for a fine evening of Rocky Mountain acoustic music at ASL's new home, the Foothills Performance Space at Foothills Golf Course in Lakewood. (Ernie will be getting a workout since he's a sidekick for not only me, but Patty and Steve, as well!) Patty is one of Western Music's shining stars and a frequent guest on the ASL stage. We're happy to have her join us in this new venue. Steve is one of Denver's most unique and entertaining troubadours, with songs that are both hilarious and touching. Oh, and he's been known to throw in a sing-along. We're gonna have a ball. Remember, doors open at 6:00 but come early for some fine vittles and brew at the adjacent Foothills Restaurant. Hope to see you next week!

I'm delighted with the new America's Soul Live and what we've accomplished in just a couple of months. Well, it's now May, so set aside the third Tuesday, May 20, for our next show featuring troubadours Patty Clayton and Steve Pierce. Patty's an old friend who also happens to be the reigning International Western Music Association's Female Performer of the Year. Her distinctive vocals and picking combine with her engaging stage presence to make her one of the favorite guests in ASL's history. Oh, and she's a fine songwriter, as well. Steve Pierce is one of Denver's most interesting pickers, combining unique performances with a great sense of humor. His original tunes are deep, meaningful, and often hilarious. Foothills Event Space at Foothills Golf Course is a wonderful new venue, and I'm chomping at the bit to present these great shows on the third Tuesday of each month. Hope to see you on the 20th!

THIS FRIDAY! I'll be appearing in concert benefitting the Genesis Gallery, a community outreach space located in Lakewood Methodist Church in Lakewood, CO. The church has been part and parcel of Lakewood for over 125 years and is developing Genesis Gallery into a unique, affordable community resource featuring concerts, dance, fine art, sculpture, poetry readings, and book launches/signings. It's a great cause, so I hope you'll come out this Friday at 7:00 to join me for a lovely evening.

My pal Becky MacIntyre got ahold of me recently to request help in organizing a fundraiser for the Genesis Gallery, an art gallery located in Lakewood Methodist Church in Lakewood, CO.

As Becky says, "We have been in the Lakewood community for well over 125 years and we are finding new ways to connect with our neighborhood. The Gallery features local artists. We feature a new group of artists once a month, based on the theme the Gallery committee chooses. We are a part of the 40 West Arts District and participate in First Friday Art Walks. We also work with Chicano Humanities and Arts Counsel (CHAC).

"We are attempting to develop the Gallery into a community resource. We envision a reasonably priced space for concerts, dance, art and poetry readings, book launches and signings. The Gallery operates on a very modest budget. (Keeping a 60 year old, 50,000 square foot building running is expensive for a small congregation!)

"We view the arts as an embodiment of the glory of all God's creation, in all its forms."

Well, that's all I needed to hear, and I'll be presenting a benefit concert for the Genesis Gallery on Friday, April 25 at 7:00. Come on out and join me...we'll have a grand old time for a good cause.
