This morning at 10:00am, we are announcing the WNC Strong: Helene Business Recovery Fund designed to provide financial relief for those affected by the storm. We are here to help you ease the burden and give you the resources you need to recover.
Here’s how the program can assist you:
Fast-tracked loans up to $100,000.00.

Low-interest rates beginning at 1% for all approved loans.
All loans approved locally, in WNC with access to Mountain BizWorks and resource partners on a face to face basis.

Designed to help bridge to longer term recovery funds like SBA, FEMA, insurance, and other sources.

We understand that every recovery journey is different, and we want you to know that we’re here to walk this path with you. Recently at a virtual group workshop we were running the question came up as to where was the right place to start in coming up with ideas. Was it Ok to start at the end of the framework we presented and work backwards or out of order? With any ideation framework it's most important to just start somewhere. We lead clients through steps in an order, but then really that's just the beginning. It's best to turn back around and go back through the way we came. Ideas will surface along the way that can be applied back to where you started. Cycle back through again. Iteration and repetition combined with periods for rest and focusing elsewhere are how we get off the struggle bus as and build clarity, themes and throughlines.

So like the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz, some people go this way, some people go that way, and some people go both ways.

For over 25 years I've had a weird career at the intersection of events, design, wayfinding and branded environments.

I've had the pleasure of collaborating with 1000s of professionals in design, events, coaching and leadership. All of the knowledge of gathered from tons of people way smarter than myself, goes into everything we do.

In spring of 2020 the world shut down. I was let go from my leadership role at a company that was becoming increasingly toxic.

I had busted my ass between a merger, moving two shops, team training and integrating software. All while keeping jobs running and building a culture of honor and respect.

Then Covid hit. My wife is high risk so we were worried. I asked to go remote. Then when we had a potential situation on our hands, I made the case that we should be putting safety of staff and clients before profits.

An hour later I had no job. Just like that I was nothing more than another expense that could be wiped off the balance sheet with out so much as a thank you.

I realized I had been compromising my values and purpose in exchange for the illusion of job security. I decided I didn't want to ever do that again.

After some soul searching I decided to refocus on purpose driven experience design. That's core connecting thread of everything I've done the past 25 years. Hornsby Creative launched Connection Kits designing branded event toolkits for virtual events.

I made more money than I did at that other job. Doing something in my zone of genius that brought more joy and impact into the world.

Now I'm launching my own virtual event. Think Inside the Box Live. A 1-day interactive virtual event. It's happening Oct 6th, hosted by yours truly, John Hornsby an experience designer and CEO of Connection Kits by Hornsby Creative.

She developed the Deliberate Creative™ Teams Scale to help teams understand their collaborative creativity.
