Going to your first fitting? It's super important to take along shoes and undergarments. You'd be surprised at the difference from one bra or shaper to another. It can change the entire fit of the dress. Same goes with no undergarments.
I explain this in my introductory message to clients.
Yesterday, a client arrived and misunderstood the direction. She assured me that she was wearing clean underwear and thought it was odd that I made the request. 🤣

A bride from this past week. For those who are interested, this is what had to be done:
1, Full take in - reduce by 2 sizes the entire length from top of the bodice to mid-thigh.
2. Take up shoulders by 2"
3. Hem all layers, including petticoat
4. Double bra cups
5. Remove existing sash
6. Bustle

She actually squealed with delight and threw her arms around me when she tried it on. We had fun. :)

Yelp Biz. It's helpful to businesses for the most part. However, I learned something today that was alarming. A client informed me that after we made initial contact, a competitor contacted her to try and steal the business. (She declined due to poor past performance.) I was NOT pleased and tried to figure out how it happened.
A Yelp Biz rep informed me there is a paid feature that allows companies to contact anyone nearby who is seeking local services. I was shocked. She told me I had the option to do the same thing. I told her that I think the conduct is both unethical and unprofessional. Be aware and beware of this practice. Always check a company's trustworthiness and reviews when possible.

seems to be the month for emergency clothing alterations. I received 5 calls in the past few days. Yes, I am available and I work on Saturdays. My regular hours are 11-6 but I'll work around someone's schedule. By appointment only.

Did you know that most alterations shops have a 4-6 week turn around time? Some aren't taking appts right now.

A rather inappropriate phone call yesterday has prompted me to say that I (The Stitch Witch) do not fit or alter undergarments. (Except for dress slips). Some people can make things seem creepy. 🙄

I work on just about everything else. Formal and wedding dresses are my specialty.
