For centuries Black people in America have been considered less than human. Denied even the basic right of marriage. Our tradition of Jumping the Broom is still seen in our weddings today in remembrance and honor to the ancestors. We have come a long way, but the undoing the damage has been a fight! Hey there and welcome to my page!! My name is Cherese better known as Reese or CoCo! I started Nubian Nuptials after my "elopement" that left me feeling less like a Nubian Queen and more like a McDonalds drive through disaster!

Let me set the scene for you!! The day was beautiful, I had my dress and he had his suit. We had a witness and flowers!! We got in the car and marched into the courthouse determined to have a romantic moment making us Husband and Wife! It was going to be sweet, loving, and intimate...only it wasn't! We stood there in a courtroom with over 20 other couples and recited group vows in the matter of minutes and just like that it was over! We all filed out of the courtroom and back on the elevator almost in a state of disbelief...I's married Now!! I think?? My guest couldn't even get photos for us because the place was too packed!
