With 2023 comes my 29th year in the custom cake business! It also brings the decision to close a chapter in my Book of Life. On 1/16/23, I announced to my customer base that I will no longer be accepting new orders. It's time for this ol' girl to gracefully bow out of the game and retire!

Believe me, this was NOT an easy decision for me to make! This has been a super sweet journey of meeting wonderful people, mastering design challenges, and making beautiful memories! I LOVE AND SINCERELY APPRECIATE all who have supported me through the years! Once I've had a moment to rest, regroup, and think about my next chapter, I'll be sure to share my plans! Stay tuned!

I specialize in old fashioned, traditional cakes made with butter, sugar, and eggs. I recently stepped out and tried a sugar-free lemon cake. It was filled and covered with a light cream cheese frosting. It wasn't bad for a 1st try... it just needed a little recipe doctoring!

The last cakes of 2022 were for my hospitality ministry sister's surprise birthday party! Her husband requested 2 cakes that were a hit at another member's daughter's wedding a little over a year ago (he remembered them!): chocolate buttermilk cake with peanut butter frosting and old fashioned caramel cake! Right after nibbling on these scraps, I knew it was time to start my "diet"! 😂

For the 1st time in my history of Christmas baking, I didn't get any German Chocolate cake orders! The star of Christmas 2022 was my Egg Nog pound cake, followed closely by the Holiday Velvet!

WHEW!!! The month of December was a WHIRLWIND!!!
On top of the typical hustle and bustle of the holiday season, we had to pack up and hit the road for two very special family celebrations!
First, MY BABY GIRL GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE!!

And since the family was together a week before my "little" brother's 50th birthday, we threw a surprise party for him!

Sooo... I delivered a sweet potato pie to Snellville earlier this evening. I pulled out of their driveway at 7:49 and made 1 quick stop before making it back to Alpharetta. This is the text I saw when I pulled into my garage at 8:41! They ate most of the doggone pie before I even crossed over I-85!! Looks like they're going to need another one for Thursday! 😂🤣😂

Today is the 20th wedding anniversary for my sister and her husband! Of course, I had to make her wedding cake! They had a fairytale wedding, complete with horse and carriage! At the time, I had been hoping for a wedding where I could create the cake on the cover of a magazine I had. THIS WAS THAT MOMENT!!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, you two! Prayers for another 20+ beautiful years together!

They were POPPIN' BOTTLES of a different kind for this baby shower! The idea was to make cupcakes as a play on buckets of champagne 🍾 bottles with lots of bubbles. I love how the multiple sizes of pearl sprinkles helped make that happen!

300 mini cupcakes were dropped off yesterday in celebration of the 155th church anniversary . As part of the celebration, the Center of Excellence (youth center) was renamed as The Chestene M. Carter Center of Excellence in honor of a beautiful soul who dedicated her life's work to education. It was an honor to have known her and is a blessing to have her legacy continue!
