I haven’t been out in public much lately but you will definitely see me at the Hoots For Help benefit series that David Castro has steadfastly been booking for me, VancertsATX, and Meshed Up Productions, to help fundraise.
Hootsforhelp.com was born because my stroke caused my already precarious financial situation to become almost unbearable. It was one of those lightbulb moments. I am going to turn this negative to
a positive.
When I had the stroke, and went into the hospital,
I had just returned from a successful festival in Conroe, TX.
I was in the middle of building a new website, spending ten thousand plus dollars in upgrades, vehicle maintenance (such as two new van transmissions),with loan payments, and all kinds of miscellaneous expenses coming due as I got ready for the new season.
When I was deemed well enough to return home from the hospital I was half paralyzed and fearful of my future and my financial viability going forward.
I realized I needed to do some fundraisers but that eventually I was going to be ok.
I’m lucky to be in a unique position where I can call the general manager, or the owner of a couple dozen venues in town, or all over Texas and ask for some dates, or email a few hundred bands and ask them to help me.
I have roster of amazing sound people, 6 fully equipped PA systems and three vans. It may sound like I’m rich, but trust me. I’m far from it. I live day to day like so many of us do these days. I’m still building this company so that one day I will get paid.
PB&J is my savior.
But at least I know I can survive.
I wanted to use my position to help other people with their benefits or gofundme campaigns, and raise money for other good causes and people. It was a moment of reflection, of reckoning, and realization.
I don’t know how much time I really have on this planet and I want to leave a legacy in case I’m gone too early. Come help me raise money for a good cause!
All of these bands are doing COVER SONGS, so you can PARTY!
But if you want to know what bands they are covering, you will have to come see them LIVE!

All bands will perform 1 to 3 preferred Covers of an artist they choose along with their Originals for 30 minutes. Expect captivating performances with mostly backline equipment provided by Vancerts or Meshed up Productions, food by Fibonnaci Food, local advertising by Austin Chronicle and Kazi 88.7
