A Message of Gratitude
As we reflect on this season of Thanksgiving, I am reminded of the many traditions, lessons, and blessings that have shaped my journey. Today, its meaning resonates deeply with me: a time to pause, appreciate, and give thanks for the people who enrich our lives.

Teaching what I know and giving back to others is one of the most rewarding things I do. I want to thank Sharifa Wilkinson, M.Ed, CED for inviting me to teach how to market an event to the students of FIU Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management.
Marketing today, today is a whole new ballgame. Gone are the days when a magazine or newspaper ad actually worked or traditional PR would do the trick. Now, we’re trying to reach people through a mix of channels: streaming, podcasts, emails, social media, and more. Our challenge begins there, how do we start!

That’s what my recent workshop was all about. After working through some real-world cases and examples, I was blown away by the energy and passion that so many students are bringing to the industry and how eager and ready they are. This is my inspiration to continue sharing and learning right along with them.

We are home to people from 21 Spanish-speaking countries, Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Israel, and that's not even counting those from India and other parts of Asia.
As planners, the more we know about our environment, the better we can plan. All these people, from many countries that consider South Florida their home, represent either our clients or our guests.
Knowing this and how to incorporate it into the event is priceless. Information and knowledge are the greatest powers we have and the key to success.
Remember, “details are planned, not improvised”.
