Jamaican Dance music icon Grace Jones has achieved her first Gold-certified single in the U.S. as a featured artist on Beyoncé’s track “Move.” The song, which also features Nigerian artist Tems, has sold 500,000 units in combined streams and sales, according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Released as part of Beyoncé’s Renaissance album, “Move” marked a major milestone for Jones, earning her the highest chart debut of her career in August 2022, when it debuted at No. 54 on the Billboard Hot 100. This achievement represents Jones’s fourth entry on the chart and her first in over three decades.
Jones initially made her Billboard Hot 100 debut 46 years ago with the single “Sorry/That’s the Trouble,” which peaked at No. 71 in 1977. Later that same year, “I Need a Man” reached No. 83. Her highest-charting solo single, “I’m Not Perfect (But I’m Perfect for You),” peaked at No. 69 on January 10, 1987.
Now, with the success of “Move,” Jones adds another historic achievement to her legendary career, solidifying her impact on both the dance and pop music worlds.
