A tale of two venues and one party.
Now that the audio system is fully installed and tested and the first Version @ Mobtown went as well as I could have hoped, I'd like to thank Michael, Sarah and Dave at Mobtown Ballroom for agreeing to my crazy plan of moving a portion of The Crown PA System over to Mobtown Ballroom & CafΓ©. Losing The Crown and the room that Patrick McMinn and I put so much work into building was a real loss for me, and the success of Version in that space was something I was truly proud of helping build by creating that room. So I spent all day yesterday with some movers provided by Mr. Lee of The Crown, and my solid homies Mike Franklin, Dai Andrews, and Tristan Heles dismantling The Crown Audio system and choosing the best pieces to move over. The Electro-Voice QRX 153/75 speakers I installed at The Crown were discontinued by EV during my install, so since their longevity is at risk I was unsure I could repair them in time. I opted instead to keep the JBL SRX725's from the Side Stage as they are still in good shape. The QRX218 subwoofers are much happier running on two amps instead on one - tho one of the subs blew out on me at some point during testing. So we still got through the party with 3 out of 4 subs, and all the breakers were cool as cucumbers. Not too shabby πππ.
So here's to still making things louder in the world. Like many things in this town, Mobtown Ballroom & CafΓ© is really special and you should go there as often as humanly possible. Try the soup - it's delicious!
And if anyone wants to help fix an EV QRX218S Subwoofer, please shoot me a DM!! πππ
