BUSINESS CLOSING: Due to chronic illness of the owner, Ferrets and Friends will no longer be providing services after August 30th, 2024. Starting in early September, the animal ambassadors will be available for adoption for placement in new homes. For most of them, all of the equipment will also be provided. If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please see our list of adoptable animals and complete the adoption application on our website.

Our retired pair of senior ferrets, Pabu and Abu turned six years old this summer. These two brothers worked in our educational programs for five years and as therapy pets for for most of that time. Happy birthday Pabu & Abu!

Missy will be back for the "Claws to Read" program at Woodlawn Public Library this Tuesday, July 18th. The library staff can assist with signing up for your reservation. It's first come, first serve. If you miss her this time, she'll be back again in August.

Happy Birthday Diego! Our current most experienced ferret ambassador (after Pabu & Abu's retirement last fall) turns two years old today. He's spending his birthday playing with his other ferret friends and his favorite feline friend, Dexter.

Our usual library reading programs are called "Paws to Read" but at the Woodlawn Public Library today it was more like "Claws to Read" :-).

Thanks to Alex for taking Missy, our gorgeous Eclectus Parrot therapy pet, and for the name. They're scheduled to be back on May 2nd if you missed them.

While packing for our events this weekend, we noticed something didn't quite seem right. Dexter has had an interest in the birds since he arrived. I guess he thinks he is part of the flock now!

This year has been full of growth as our business has been recovering from the pandemic. We have so many new animals to train. Our last baby of the year is this three month old Sun Conure chick. We are looking forward to introducing her and our other new kids in our programs in 2023!

After a consultation with professional cat trainer, Laura (), our cats are ready for a nice afternoon nap.

This past spring, we adopted Dexter. He is a seven year old blind siamese mix. He's been adjusting well to his new home, but we decided to consult with a professional in order to address his interest in our bird friends. He seems to be responding well to redirection with his favorite toy.

Our Veiled Chameleon, Ali, crossed the rainbow bridge last week. He was eight years old and was one of our original animal ambassadors after being a personal pet of the owner of Ferrets and Friends, LLC. He participated in hundreds of programs and met thousands of individuals over the course of his career.

Veiled Chameleons live an average of 2-4 years in captivity, partially due to lack of awareness about proper husbandry and their fragile systems. While it's not uncommon for a male Veiled Chameleon to live as old as 5 to 7 years, more then seven years would be an outlier. We are so grateful for all the time that we got to spend with this perfect gentleman. Rest in peace, buddy.

It's easy to see how Kamal the would be able to blend into his native desert environment. Kamal is about a year old, so he won't reach full size or his mature coloration for another year or two.
