EXCITING NEWS! Our fall production of "The Minutes" has been invited to be performed at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) later this month!
Being invited to perform at the KCACTF Region 1 is “a testament to the hard work and collaboration between students, faculty and program staff,” says Vana Trudeau, Assistant Professor of Performing Arts, and the production's director.
According to Trudeau, who served as co-Chair of The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) for Region 1 from 2020-2023, being selected to bring a show to Festival is a huge honor. “Faculty respondents see an average of 150 shows in our region each academic year. Perhaps 10% of these are held for consideration to be invited to festival. The Selection Committee then chooses between 4-6 shows to be performed at the annual regional festival.”
The cast and crew will now spend the next few weeks getting the show "back on it's feet," and ready for a new theatre. The team will travel to Connecticut, load in the show, hold a tech rehearsal, perform, and strike the set, all in the span of about 30 hours, with load-in and load-out led by Technical Directors Brian Rice, Kendra Murphy, and Scenic Designer Matt Kohler.
"Students get a mini-crash course in what it means to tour a show," says Trudeau, "Re-staging this show for a proscenium theatre after having performed it in a black-box theatre will be a challenge, but I know this cast is ready for the challenge and are excited to do the work."
Cape Cod Community College's production of "The Minutes" by Tracy Letts will be performed Friday January 31st at 7:00 PM in the Torp Theatre at Central Connecticut State University.

Even as we approach opening of our spring musical, Bright Star by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, we are also preparing for our fall course offerings. We're excited to announce several new courses, including **Creative Dramatics**, a great course for those interested in learning more about applying theatre in the K-12 classroom, or developing theatre for/by youth.
Or **Directing for Theatre**, in which students will explore the role of the director, the art of collaboration, and direct their own short plays! If you're more interested in Stage Management, consider **Intro to Stage Management**, a 1-credit, Quick Term (7 week) course that will cover all of the fundamentals of the rehearsal process, cue calling, organization and more. In Q2, get your audition materials or portfolios in tip-top shape with **Audition & Portfolio Prep**, another 1-credit, Quick Term course.
And perhaps most exciting - the return of **CHORUS** to the Tilden Arts Center! Meeting Tues and Thurs mornings from 9:30-10:45, this course marks the return of group singing to our curriculum for the first time in over a decade!
All these and more await your enrollment! Check out the full list of courses below. Remember, if you are over 25, and do not hold a degree, CCCC courses are FREE! Simply enroll in 6 or more credits and the Financial Aid office will take care of the rest.
Any questions, email Program Coordinator Vana Trudeau at [email protected]. We hope to see you in the Tilden this Fall!
