Two-toned dahlia with dark leaves! I’ve started to put tags on the dahlias and take pictures of them all to get ready for winter storage! It’s easy to get discouraged when I look at all of the things I didn’t keep up with well over the hot and dry summer, so stepping back to look at the beauty of the things that did work makes me so grateful for the blessing of having a flower farm.

I do love spring!!! This purple beauty is red spike amaranth, along with blueberries, dark opal basil, dusty miller, jeweled dahlia, mahogany hibiscus, eucalyptus, hypericum and calendula. 🌸💕🌸

Pansy - Frizzle Sizzle Yellow Blue Swirl from Floret Flower Farm ❤️❤️❤️ - My first bloom of the season!! Lettuce bowls will grow even in shady areas and you can snack on them any time! They are so cute and easy to grow.. I may put some together to sell at our local Farmer’s Market 💚🥬 💚

Nasturtiums have such pretty leaves 😍. They grow quickly when the temperatures get warm outside and they are good to have in the garden! Not only are the flowers edible and pretty on a salad, but they can be used as a trap for aphids and squash bugs and attract pollinators. 🌸🌸🌸

Red Spike Amaranthus 😍. These babies don’t like the cold, so I’ll be putting them in the seedling shed this weekend to stay warm. If you have any plants that like warmer weather, make sure to protect them when the temperatures are in the 30’s at night. These flowers will be grown and sold as cut flowers this summer and I have lots of vegetables like tomatoes and cucumbers that will need to stay warm too. It will be a beautiful day to be in the garden! 🙌🏻💕🌸

Soil blocking early this morning! Our garden owl is overseeing the whole project.. I bought him last year hoping to keep rabbits out of the garden, but the rabbits didn’t mind him and it scared the birds away, so he just sits in the greenhouse these days. He looks very real in person, especially when his head turns!
