Good news: we ARE going to rent the barn as a wedding venue!

Bad news: we still have some legal details to work out, so we aren’t ready to start booking it YET!

We will start booking for 2024 weddings as soon as we get everything worked out!!!!!

We are getting lots of inquiries about renting the barn. We still have details to work out before we decide if we will be renting it out. We hope to know more by next week. We are currently making a list of people to contact in the order they have contacted us.

A little under 2 years ago, our daughter’s boyfriend asked her dad if he could propose. The same night he did, our daughter said, “I’m getting married on the farm.” She honestly was thinking we would pitch a tent for the reception, but a barn has been in our long term plan the only issue was we used the old barn we had torn down to move to build our house.

We searched for another barn to move, but couldn’t find one. Early this spring, we found a company that builds gothic style rafters. Jeff design the barn and the week after our May The Sunflower Market at Lambrecht Farm, Bedford, Indiana, we broke ground. The Amish built the basement and then we waited and waited and waited on the rafters. The barn is nowhere near finished, but the bride could have cared less!

We keep getting question about how we came up with the name of the barn.

Jeff’s grandparents, Paul and Iva May Lambrecht, purchased the farm in 1959 and lived here until their deaths. Paul died in 2011, and “Ivy” as everyone called her died in 2010. Ivy loved hosting everything from bridge club to family reunions on the farm. She had 5 children of her own, but often had others staying with her. Her nieces have told us stories about spending summers on the farm. She hosted Christmas Day lunch for her 5 children, 10 grandchildren, their spouse, and her 16 great-grandchildren until her death.

Jeff’s parents bought the adjoining farm in the early 70s, so Jeff had the privilege of spending time daily with his grandparents. Jeff will tell you that no one can make a grilled cheese as “good as Grandma’s”. She was the best hostess even when it was just Jeff wanting some food!

We are making progress with 8 days until the wedding! Roof is on almost 1/2 done! The windows and doors are in the front, and we’ve starting putting the windows in the back. We still have a barn door to build for the front. The white siding is on the east basement wall. We also have electricity now!

Welcome to our new page specially for our new barn! Ivy’s Barn is being built for our daughter’s wedding reception coming up! While the barn won’t be completely finished by then it will be usable for her reception!! Follow along for build updates and to see the barn progress!
