Spirits of Samhain Festival at The Apple Barn

Bennington, VT, October 9, 2024 – The Apple Barn and Bake Shop, located at 604 US Route 7 South, is excited to announce its final festival of the season, Spirits of Samhain! After a summer full of nearly monthly festivals, this event promises to keep the fun rolling with family-friendly activities, tasty treats, and a variety of unique vendors. The festival will be held behind the barn in the field with beautiful views on October 26, 2024 from 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM. This event is free and open to all.

We’ve adjusted the time to better coordinate with other local events, including the Trunk or Treat festivities at Pownal Elementary and Coggins. We encourage you to make a day of it—start at the Barn and then head over to these fantastic community events!

Inspired by Samhain, a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season, our Vermont version brings a bit of Celtic charm with a Halloween twist. Friendly witches will be wandering the grounds, and both vendors and attendees are encouraged to dress up in their best costumes.

Honoring Local 4-H Clubs

We’re proud to support Vermont 4-H Clubs as our featured non-profit for this festival! They’ll be setting up their Shooting Sports Trailer, featuring an enclosed Air Rifle Shooting Range where kids (ages 8 and up) and adults can try out their marksmanship skills. Instructors and youth members from the Pownal Valley 4-H Sharpshooters will be on hand to guide new shooters through safety and marksmanship. Bennington County is home to two active 4-H Clubs: The Pownal Valley 4-H Sharpshooters and The Young Explorers.

Activities for All Ages

There’s plenty of fun in store for everyone. Here’s a sneak peek: our corn maze will be transformed into a spooky adventure you won’t want to miss! World of Wonder Entertainment will be joining us with some magical surprises. And of course, we’ll have a fantastic selection of familiar and new vendors offering all kinds of treats and treasures. Warm up with a hot cider to welcome the season or enjoy some lemonade and ice cream to savor those last tastes of summer.

Well you can't always hit a home run. Today is the last Makers Market at The Apple Barn and Country Bake Shop. It was definitely worth trying and we will reassess for next year and I will keep you posted. Meanwhile you can visit your favorite vendors at the two upcoming festivals!

Heritage Harvest Fest is on Sept. 21 from 10am - 5pm.
Spirits of Samhain (and Halloween) is on Oct. 26 from 3pm - 9pm.

Since we only had two vendors signed up for the market at The Apple Barn and Country Bake Shop on Sunday, I decided to cancel this one. They will be vending tomorrow so get your fix downtown this week! Wicked Sniffer Aromatherapy Co. Squeeze the Juice Lemonade Stand

Come grab one Sunday from 12pm-4pm at the Maker's Market in The Apple Barn and Country Bake Shop Parking lot to the left of the building.

There will be other vendors to peruse as well while you sip your refreshing lemonade!

This week we'll be featuring Sugared Strawberries, Peach Compote, and Peach syrup!
