Thanks for your interest in K-Pop! This page was started as a resource for K-Pop lovers in the Maine & New England area. Our aim is to also attract new fans, throw fun dance parties and build a big K-Pop community. Unbelievably good K-Pop Mixtapes are FREE for everyone. If you’re a fan, check them all out in the Free Mixtape section! - DJ Jon & Staff
I only recently got into K-Pop a couple of months ago (March, 2019), but I love it so much. So much diversity, fantastic production and the music videos are all so well done. It’s really great to discover so much new music not only to mix with at gigs, but just to listen to at home.
I’m also really pleased to see that we have so many K-Pop fans in the area. The first dance party was so fun and the music sounded so dope on a big system, right?? I hope we can build followers and make new fans out of people who just haven’t heard K-Pop. Because I know, once people hear it, they’ll love it just as much or more than what they listen to now. I’d like to thank everyone on this page for their continued support. Keep playing my K-Pop mixes for new people! I promise it will convert them. Leocardia (Admin, content provider, meme specialist)
Introduced to K-Pop in 2009 by an online gaming friend, Leocardia, a Portland native and Punk enthusiast was drawn to the upbeat and distinct sound of the early 2000’s South Korean music groups such as Super Junior, SHINee, 2ne1, and TVXQ. But it was not until 2011 that she became immersed into the genre following the debut of EXO, originally a 12 member super group that would go on to break records and open doors for future artists to lay claim. After spending almost a decade submerged into the world of South Korean Pop, Rock, and the underground rap and hardcore scene, Leocardia was introduced to DJ Jon in 2019 by a mutual friend. The two decided to team up to create Kpop Maine and bring together fans of the genre in and around Maine for the ultimate Kpop Dance Party.

DJ Shannon (Admin, Hello Hallyu radio host, WMPG)
Shannon found out about Kpop when her League of Legends playing friend sent her Girl's Generation's "Run Devil Run", where the choreography was featured as character Ahri's dance emote.
She would soon spiral into the music by listening to other great hits such as Miss A's "Goodbye Baby", and become a long time fan of Super Junior after hearing "Sorry Sorry". Shannon's other favorite artists also include ATEEZ, The Boyz, BVNDIT, Bolbbalgan4, Dreamcatcher, and more.
An Art major and Archaeology minor at USM, Shannon is currently the host of WMPG 90.9's "Hello Hallyu", a 2-hour Kpop music show focusing on both chart topping music and classic material.
Shannon has also studied abroad at Sogang University in Seoul, South Korea, and is working on her Korean language skills/Teaching Certificate. Listen to Hello Hallyu on Mondays @ 3-5PM HERE
Garrett (Admin, Girl Group news & music)
In 2016, I saw a clip from TWICE’s comeback stage for TT that had gone viral on Twitter and the rest is history… I listened to their entire discography, which was a whopping 3 EPs at the time, and officially became a fan of K-Pop. Following my discovery of TWICE I ended up watching reruns of SIXTEEN, which then lead me to following a few of the other members: Somi (Produce 101), Jiwon (Idol School), and Chaeyeon (Produce 48). I now listen to a variety of girl groups and soloists, but my favorites are: TWICE, IZ*ONE, SUNMI, fromis_9, PRISTIN, ITZY, I.O.I, SISTAR, BLACKPINK, and Cherry Bullet, among others. Before I became a fan of K-Pop I had actually seen Crayon Pop live in 2013, when they opened for Lady Gaga’s “Artpop” tour.
Luis (Admin, K-Hip Hop expert)
I'm a Korean American living in Portland Maine and studying at Indiana University Kelley school of business. I'm not really huge kpop fan, but I'm super into K hip hop. It's been one of the biggest genres in Korea for the past 5 years with the emergence of the TV show "Show me the Money". I'll be mainly covering any news regarding k hip hop.
Currently, my parents and I are running the only Korean BBQ restaurant north of Boston: N To Tail. Visit our website here.
Some recommendations for those who are new the k hip hop scene: any artist from the labels AOMG, Indigo Music, Illionare Records, Higher Music, and Ambition Music.
Any questions, contact at @luskurr for instagram and @ntotail for the restaurant.
Krush Dance Krew were est. in 2018 and are based in Portland, ME. KDK is a small group of friends who enjoy dancing with each other and love to showcase their hard work! Hello, I'm Aziza King and I'm 14 years old. I got into kpop in 2017, and it helped me get out of a rough patch in my life. The connection between the fans and the artists is absolutely beautiful, and the meaning behind the music is absolutely amazing.
