Every year around this time, the 2 cities of Berkeley & Albany work together to transform Solano Avenue into a mile-long walking street for the day. It's called The Solano Avenue Stroll... and it's happening this Sunday 9/8 from 10 to 5. KALX will have a booth there! (We're jazzed!) We hope you'll stroll over and say hello!

Are you going to be at the Solano Avenue Stroll this Sunday, September 8th?
WE ARE! That's right, KALX will be "doing the Stroll" with you, all day from 10 to 5!
Our booth will be just "a few blocks west of the very top" (the Berkeley end).

DJ PennyRoyal invited the band Juicebumps to play on "KALX Live!" this past Saturday night... a fun time was had!
It's currently KALX's big 2024 Fundraiser (going through Wednesday 4/24). The video feed of their set that night didn't *quite work out to be viewable in real time* that night. Whoopsie! These technical difficulties can happen.
(If only we have some money to fix our wonky tech...) 😏

A re-airing of the KALX Live! 2023 RetroSpectacular Extravaganza is playing on the KALX airwaves RIGHT NOW during our overnight hours.
Sounds like it started at 2:00 am, so this 5-hour special show oughta go all the way to 7:00 am. (I just went into our logging to show the plays, so you can see the entries.)

The tradition continues in 2023! Back in 2011, the KALX Live! show crew had an idea… to make a special year-end episode that could look back on the plethora of exciting performances which took place during the year— a retrospective of spectacular proportions.

The tradition of the "RetroSpectacular Extravaganza" was born then, and amazingly, we’ve been doing it ever since!

Tune in Saturday, December 30th at 7PM - Midnight to catch the KALX Live! 2023 RetroSpectacular Extravaganza hosted by Cia Cia La Pirata.

Many college radio stations do something on this day to celebrate, and take a moment to exalt the importance of College Radio.
Why not take a bit of time today to think about *your* favorite College Radio Stations?
90.7 fm KALX Berkeley is college radio (and excitingly, it’s *community radio* too).
⚡️If you listen to KALX, then you already know so well that it’s wonderful, ever-changing, full of personality, laden with imperfections... and it’s packed with realness, exuberance, passion, creativity, opportunities, weirdness… and CULTURE.
⚡️All College Radio is important.

Tonight at midnight (as Friday turns into Saturday) it’s the ROUND MIDNIGHT show on KALX 90.7 fm (the most accurately-named show on KALX)! ✨This week I’m hosting!✨
It’ll be 1 hour of Jazz crossing various subgenres & decades.
For some unknown reason, I’m in a sort of South African Jazz mood, so get ready for artists from there to pop up through my sets. Then at the end, we’ll go somewhat bananas with some experimental things. (Hope you don’t mind!)
