It was a stormy evening that ended in the most beautiful dark sky with these two up in McCall ⛰️

These two had been scheduled for a big wedding and then ditched their plans for an intimate elopement 💍

Mallory & Jonah are some of the sweetest people I’ve ever met! Working with them was such a dream, and they are always up for anything which I loved. It was an honor to be a part of their special day, and their love for each other really shows through in these photos. 🤍

It’s me, are you surprised? It’s been quite a while since my last post. You know what though? It’s felt really good. Life has been chaotic, truly more then ever, and it felt great to just not worry about the right posting time, making a reel, and getting stories up. I just took a beat, breathed easier, and let every wave of my life wash over me.

From now on, that’s what I’ll be doing. I’m only 24, life is moving faster than ever, and I don’t want to miss it. 🥀

💃🏼 HOW TO FIND YOUR PERFECT PHOTOGRAPHER 💃🏼

After Brittany told me her favorite song was Dancing Queen by Abba, I asked her what she would do if it came on in the club, and she said, “I would go FERAL” and that’s how I knew 1000% that we were without a doubt the perfect client/photographer fit! 😂 (see pic #4)

OKAY, but in reality, I already knew that! When Brittany and Elaren hired me for their wedding, Brittany and I had spoken to each other on multiple occasions, we met at Bodovino for a glass of wine to talk over everything she wanted for her wedding, and when I left the meeting it had been just like meeting a friend! That’s how it SHOULD feel when you talk to your photographer! Which leads me to my first tip… ⭐️

🪩 Do your personalities click? This person is going to spend all day with you on the most important day of your life! If you don’t feel like you can be yourself then they might not be the right fit for you! And that is totally okay - not everyone in the world will be your bestie, but your Tog should be someone who hypes you up and makes you feel like you’ve known them forever! I want to be your #1 fan!

🪩 Do they make you feel heard? We are here to give input as you ask for it and help guide you to make sure things go smoothly, but I’m here to listen to what YOU need and want above all else!

🪩 You need someone adaptable. I can’t count how many times I’ve had to switch up the timeline the day of because someone is sick and isn’t coming, someone’s running late, a vendor cancelled last minute, running behind, etc.! I could go on forever because truly things go off the plan OFTEN, more then you would even think! I find myself having to get creative and think on my feet to switch things up and make sure we get all the shots regardless of hiccups!

LET’S TALK LOCATIONS 📍

When it comes to where you take your engagement photos, the location can really make or break the vibe! It sounds like it wouldn’t be that serious, but it actually can be that element that truly brings your personality foreword.

When choosing a location, I ask my clients what kind of mood they want their photos to have. Is it glam? Is it boho? Outdoorsy? Whatever it is, I always suggest something that I believe will represent them the best.

I also location scout for something unique to you that will be different and not overused, and you get multiple locations in your engagement package with me, so if you can’t decide between one - you won’t have to!

POSING - 3 TIPS AND TRICKS TO ENSURE YOU HAVE THE BEST PHOTOS POSSIBLE
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Listen to your photographer's directions (and, when choosing a photographer, pick someone who is strong at posing!!!) Try not to be stiff, shake it out and trust them as they tell you what to do. When you work with me, I won't leave you hanging! I'm here to help guide you on how to stand for your images, what angles work best, how to avoid that double chin (girllll... we ALL have one at the wrong angles!) and how to make you feel most confident in front of the camera!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Come to your session with an open mind! I tell my couples at the beginning of every session that I'm going to ask them to say some silly things, do some crazy actions, and that as ridiculous as it may seem that it actually will result in giving them the best photos possible! The looser they are and the more fun they have, the better the posing and photos always turn out!

3. Don't be afraid to ask your photographer about doing a few poses that you found and love as inspiration for your shoot! Every photographer has their own flow that they use during their sessions, but if you found some ideas for a few poses that you love and definitely want, be sure to tell me! I'm here to support you and I want you to love your photos, so communicate that with me so that we can grab them before we finish up.

Find a wedding photographer who’s just right for you and your special day using these tips! 🥂

✅ You need someone who’s attentive to your day; someone who took the time to know the timeline inside and out, but also someone who can roll with the punches! With my clients, I know what they are expecting and I know what they need from me, and even when things get off track - I do my best to keep them on schedule and get all of the shots I know are most important to them!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✅ Someone who takes care of business - you shouldn’t have to worry about anything! Your photographer should help you plan, should help you with location suggestions, making sure you have the right lighting, and posing you so you’re not standing there feeling awkward! The truth is, EVERYONE feels awkward in front of the camera and NO ONE knows what to do to pose, but that’s why you hire someone like me who can guide you through this process!

✅ Lastly, someone who’s personal. What does that mean? Glad you asked. Your photographer should be a real person, who cares deeply for you and your fiancé, and about the fact that you’ve entrusted them with your most important day of declaring your love for one another. My clients are not just a way to make money; they should want the best for you! I ensure to ask my brides and grooms what things are most important to them and what they hope to capture on their day, in detail, so that I can bring those things into the artistic images in their final gallery, posing, and detail shots.

I recently got the chance to photograph this new coffee shop in Caldwell and if you watch my stories, then you also saw me hype it up there a few days ago! Make time to get out here and show them some love, and get some super, super good coffee while you're at it!

I’m a firm believer in the importance of letting your clients or customers get to know the person behind the business. Why?

At the end of the day, we’re really all in the people business—and those connections matter. Especially for photographers, I know that potential clients want to feel at ease and confident that I have their best interests in mind. After the last 10+ years on instagram, my best tip for creating these connections is to share your true self on the gram and give your honest opinions. You might worry that people won't like them, but for every person who doesn't, there are plenty more who do!

Sometimes I suck at being a good human.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I won't lie. I have days where I get frustrated that other people haven't done their jobs right, or mad at my puppy when he has an accident on my floor. Sometimes I just wake up cranky! I cuss more then I should, I'm not always the best example of faith, and more times then not I find I struggle with self-doubt. That's just real life though, isn't it?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lately, the word "conviction" has been on my mind. I was hearing it in the back of my mind in the weeks leading up until Easter, and it's still ringing through my mind this week. I googled what it means to be convicted for a blank definition:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"having been declared guilty of a criminal offense by the verdict of a jury or the decision of a judge."
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
and then it hit me. This is what Jesus was when he went to the grave. It's what he was when he took the nails through his hands and feet for our suffering and our sins. "Convicted" is something we won't ever truly know the depth of - for me, when I say I feel convicted, it's because I am feeling like there are things I could do better to serve the people around me, ways I can act better to be kinder to the ones he died for.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I will never know what it really means to be convicted in the way He was, but at least I can try to live kinder, more forgiving, less crude, more careful with how I use my words - to lift up those around me, to give praise, to breathe words that bring joy and not harm to those around me. When I feel self doubt, I can remember that my talents come from the one who gave all for me, that when I feel cranky that there is more in the world to be joyful about then whatever put a wrench in my day.

Let's try our best to be better humans together. Compliment someone. Tell them you appreciate them. When things go wrong, give grace.

I’m going to share one of mine: I use Planoly and Canva to keep my Instagram grid and stories looking fresh and on-brand. I’m no graphic designer, so this tool makes my posts look ten times better and take the guesswork out of planning my social media. It’s been a game-changer for growing my following. And, tbh, I’m pretty proud of my IG vibes now!

Working on this has been keeping me motivated, and I’m so excited to share it with you. I've been constantly expanding my selection of gowns and client closet items over the last few years, and am growing it even more all the time. The truth is, I can't use each of these gowns every single photoshoot which means that there is room for someone else to use them on their days off from my camera! 😍
