Hey all - the beginning of the year has been crazy, but I can't let April sneak by without celebrating another DJ anniversary! 4 YEARS of dance mixes!

A couple of quick ones from Sunday. I went with some friends to catch Terror Jr. opening for French 79 in Boston. Terror Jr. was awesome - I loved seeing how they incorporated a pretty basic DJ controller into their live performance!

Hey all - I hope you've been having an awesome summer so far! Normally I'd be sending a TOTALLY NORMAL DANCE MIX your way this Friday, but I've run into some technical difficulties at Studio 2 😭 One of my lovely turntables stopped working last weekend! The good news is that it is under warranty. The bad news is that I won't have it back in time for this Friday.

So, sit tight and we'll figure out something for next week. In the meantime, have a fantastic rest of this week!

DJ nerd stuff: I have a gig coming up next weekend and needed to figure out a wireless mic for the occasion. Instead of doing a whole wireless rig, I found a rechargeable transmitter and receiver to replace the cable that would normally connect the mic to a pre-amp. What a time to be alive!

Before I ever knew what bossa nova was, I knew I liked the song "The Girl from Ipanema". Astrud Gilberto's voice was completely perfect, and she wasn't even there to sing that day at the recording studio! As a nod to her amazing talent, I'm opening my Totally Normal Dance Mix livestream tomorrow with a bossa nova sound check, which will go perfectly with cocktails or an end-of-the-week glass of wine.

Back in March I went hard on attending live electronic music acts. I specifically went after smaller venues in the Boston / Cambridge area and I learned a -lot- about the full spectrum of electronic music that is out there. Some styles that I would never listen to at home are just -incredible- as live sets!

Since then - with a pause last month for prom season - I've been working on dialing in my own livestream sound. My main goal is to create mixes that I can go back and listen to on repeat, and looking back over three plus years and 65 published mixes, I think I'm getting there 😅
