One week until the Lunar New Year ✨This watermelon carving celebrates the spirit of renewal and prosperity.

With all the zodiac animals, the snake has always been the one I never wanted to think about—I’ve been terrified of snakes since I was little and still can’t quite get over that fear.

But this year, I’m challenging myself to face my fear, little by little. So far, this carving doesn’t seem too bad… in fact, I actually think it’s kind of cute instead of scary!

It all began with a passion rooted in family history. I have wanted to master the art of crafting Dragon and Phoenix fruit sculptures, a skill my mom attributed to her father, a renowned fruit sculptor and event planner. Though he left this world when I was just a toddler I heard many stories and have been desired and determined to carry on his legacy.

I have finally grasped the intricate techniques through learning from each cut and every pin that found its way to my fingers became a testament to my journey. Despite minor imperfections, I persist in perfecting my craft, envisioning the day my mom would say, “This is exactly how your grandfather did it.” Proud of my progress, I invite you to join me on this transformative journey. Thank you for being part of this meaningful adventure.
