I love seeing the joy on the faces of a couple in love. Their enjoyment of each other. The sweet glances, the flirty smiles, the sharing in the little and big moments that make up their wedding day. It is an honor to help a couple create their personal celebration of love, and no matter what that looks like for them my goal is that they feel connected to each other, in a beautiful space that reflects their individuality, and surrounded by the people that love them.

Happy "Fangirl Friday!" Ok I may have just made that up, but I wanted to take an opportunity to shout out a few of my favorite wedding pros that helped create this beautiful photo. For this Pemberton Farm open house one of my design themes was "Bohemian Bliss", so Gina with From the ground up floral created this gorgeous bouquet in creams, nudes and neutral with touches of blush and soft greenery. It was captured beautifully by Kate of GSquared Weddings Photography, and the dreamy dress is from For the Luv of Bridal.

I love unique architectural details, and when your wedding reception is at a distillery, including elements such as this giant wooden barrel in your couple's portraiture is a must have!

Pro tip: When visiting your venue or doing a walkthrough, snap some pics of unique, interesting or memorable places on the grounds & share them with your photographer.
On wedding day they can then use them as a guide when scouting locations for your first look, couple's portraits, and sunset photos. It will help make sure you capture those extra-special elements and celebrate the uniqueness of the place you chose to say "I do."

Ever wondered about the origin of those lovely little flowers adorning a lapel? The word "boutonniere" comes from the French word for buttonhole, and in the 16th century it became popular to wear fragrant flowers on your lapel. Over time "bouts" evolved into symbolic accessories, representing various sentiments such as love, luck, and fidelity.

Today, boutonnieres remain a popular tradition in weddings, symbolizing the groom's style and personality while complementing the overall theme. For this groom, one of his passions was growing orchids, so we made sure to incorporate them into his 'bout and the bride's hair flowers.

February 1 is the first day of Black History Month and the beginning of a month-long celebration of the achievements and contributions of black people to the American lexicon.

If you are looking for ways to authentically acknowledge and celebrate this month I encourage you to:

-Take time to further your education on black history, not only those key figures that made big moves but black Americans throughout history that contributed in big and small ways.

-Support black businesses and shout them out to your community.

-Collaborate with black creators and amplify their voices.

-Take action and support organizations that lift up the black community, promote equity, and fight for racial justice.

Happy Father's Day! The "father's first look" is a lovely new tradition that more couples are choosing to embrace and I am all for it. It reminds us that while wedding day is certainly about the couple, it is also about their families and friends who love and care about them. And capturing a memorable moment between you and a special parent when they see you for the first time in your wedding best is a lovely way to honor them on the day.

I love unique details, and this gorgeous two-piece gown from For the Luv of Bridal paired with a geometric bouquet "basket" gives me all the feels.

For this year's Snohomish Wedding Tour my design theme was "Modern Bohemian Romance," and the whimsical beauty of the dress and florals paired with the modern lines of the pyramid basket captured the aesthetic perfectly.

It's & a perfect day to throwback to this sweet little cutting cake by Blue Box Bakery . The vanilla & hazelnut cake was layered with hazelnut chocolate mousse and decked out with a heavenly chocolate ganache drip. Top it off with berries, gold flake and floral accents by Petal & Posy and it was quite a visual treat for A & W's afternoon wedding soiree.

Don't forget to steal a few moments alone with your sweetie on wedding day. I always make sure my couples have a chance to spend at least a few quiet minutes together post-ceremony to breathe, to connect, and to enjoy their new status as "newlyweds."

Remember, celebrating with your friends & family is important but the reason for the wedding is the two of you. Enjoy each other!

Very cool to happen upon my design (upper right) from last year’s Pemberton Farm open house while casually scrolling on Facebook. Grand Event Rentals tableware was the perfect complement to the gorgeous florals created by From the ground up floral and the overall design came together beautifully. Not bad if I do say so myself!

Happy Saturday! You may have noticed that I've been a little quiet on social media lately, as I've been taking some down time to enjoy the holidays and the new year with my family.

But things continue to be busy in my life, and one big celebration that happened over the holidays was my little one's first birthday! Time flies so quickly & I can't believe he is already one year old. It's a good reminder to cherish every moment, enjoy the time you have together and take lots of pictures, because it all goes by in the blink of an eye!

It's hard to put in to words all that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. meant to the black community and the civil rights movement as a whole. He was an amazing man who dedicated his life to the pursuit of freedom, justice and equality and today, in honor of his observed birthday, I'd like to make a wish that we may one day live in the fullness of the world that Dr. King imagined and hoped for us all.
