Not sure how important it is to say she would’ve been 90 today. What’s important is she was a great influence. She was a strong character who would not put up with whining or nonsense. She also didn’t need many people. She’d say, “If you can find 1 person, who you don’t mind her/his idiosyncrasies and s/he doesn’t mind yours, consider yourself lucky.” Funny, we think 300+ friends on FB should be admired by us & maybe they’ll admire us back. ❤️Real life, real values.

Someone just today, posted a wonderful story about his Mom, Mollie. I wrote to this man how his story so much reminded me of my Mom, Grace. He wrote of kindness; perhaps the world can use more reminders of our experiences WITH kindness, so here’s a story -

Grace was on oxygen for the last 8 years of her life. There were many caretakers, and equipment workers, people in and out of the house all the time. Mom was kind, funny, and had a sense of humor that bordered flirtation, with everyone! On top of making others feel welcome, she believed in validating people, and unconditional love. She actively listened, and she gave solid advice. Caretakers and the equipment folks wanted to simply spend time with her, and laugh.

I am thankful for the exact way she was. Kindness will get you the best jokes! And laughter will fill your heart.❤️❤️❤️

Hard to believe it’s 12 years. My Mom was an inspiration. I hope folks who stopped or who worked for her remember her work ethic. Mom went back & forth to Norway after the passing of her parents. These cross Atlantic trips started when she was just 14 years-old. Grace had such perseverance; after every difficult event she encountered (there were many), she still could smile.
