I’m honored to have been included in a great 3-page spread on silhouettes in the November issue of Country Living magazine. The theme is “contemporary takes on age-old graphic portraiture,” and there are lots of fun ideas in the article.

I love when customers send me photos of how they’ve displayed my work. This photo is from a regular OC Fair customer who just had her three kids done from photos. It’s amazing how a Victorian art form can look so clean and modern in the right setting!

Two new patchwork table runners I just finished, one in maroons and teals, the other in black, white and green. Each one includes tiny squares from at least 25 different vintage kimonos.

I did these two portraits over the holidays for a friend/client. On the left is her baby with the baby’s paternal great grandfather; on the right she is with her maternal great grandmother. Both passed away not long before the baby was born and never got to meet her, so her mother wanted me to put them together as a Christmas present for her parents (the baby’s grandparents). Grandma cried when she opened them! (I also did a portrait of Grandma’s dog last year, and quite a few silhouettes of various extended family members and pets over the years.) Thank you Tildesley family for always supporting and promoting my work!

All 27 of the elementary school teachers at Rancho Elementary School in Temecula. They are going to hang it up during their STEAM Family Event and have all the kids guess who’s who. Should be fun!

I just finished this portrait for Sierra Redwood Sign Carvers of their three shop dogs Jo Jo, Napoleon and Scooter, and delivered it to them at the San Mateo Harvest Festival. (Scooter is helping his mom carve signs at a different event and wasn’t able to participate in the photo.)

This is Jo Jo. He just got his silhouette done at the Pleasanton Harvest Festival and I got to practice my rudimentary Japanese skills on him! (He wasn’t too happy about taking his picture with me though. 🙁)

Las Vegas documentary filmmaker Chris Charles Scott with the silhouette he had done today at the Harvest Festival. He is planning to remodel his guest bathroom with silhouettes of all of his closest friends - what a fun project!

Bunches of new chihuahua silhouettes available at the OC Fair - skinny, fat, floppy ears, pointy ears, tail, no tail - I got ‘em all! (Plus about a thousand other animal designs). Last weekend to visit the fair before it’s all over. 😞

A relatively quick table runner that I started and finished yesterday in about four hours, made from a beautiful hand-painted Japanese kimono. (Note the gold paint and thread in the close-ups.) Like most of my kimonos, this one was very old and damaged and would never have been worn again so, no, I don't feel guilty for cutting it up! In fact, I like to think that I have given it new life. I will be showing this and many others this Sunday at San Clemente Village Art Fair.

These photos were sent to me by a regular OC Fair client who has had silhouettes of the kids done eight years in a row. This shows the framed silhouettes hanging in their nationally registered historic house in Santa Ana's Historic French Park. I like the clever way they found to display them without damaging the walls!

All ready for opening day of the first Sugarplum Boutique of the year with 26 new table runners repurposed from vintage kimono silk. Three weeks ago those were 26 little piles of fabric - I've been busy! Sugarplum is open Thursday through Saturday on the lower level of the mall.
