It’s a beautiful fall day, just perfect for “A Little Something in the Yard” ! 🍂 It goes from 12-5 this afternoon, with some very fun vendors in attendance!
Due to a family commitment (Eric’s team is playing in the Super Bowl!), I won’t be there in person, but the pop-up is in its usual spot!
There are bouquets and GORGEOUS pumpkin arrangements. (Don’t worry, they’re treated and will hold out for future uses this season. 😉)

Foraging is my favorite. Walking around the woods, looking at things from a different perspective is always refreshing!

I found some beautiful things to include in arrangements for this Saturday, including a few dahlias! It’s a blessing to have them so late in October! 🧡

A few pretty little finds down in Florida. 🧡

It was so nice to get to spend time away from the flowers, because all I saw when I looked at them were chores.

Experiencing such a different range of botanicals over these last few days has really been wonderful, and has helped me to become excited all over again for the close of this flower season, the holidays, and what next season will have to offer! Lots of beauty in store!

It’s really starting to feel like Fall, now that the temperatures (and humidity) have dropped!

Pro decorating tip: Do your main decorating for the SEASON, not just the holiday. Then, add a few pieces here and there to highlight the actual holiday when it is closer to the day.

Example: My home has been decorated for fall for a few weeks now with leaves and various textures of pumpkins, but only in the last few days have I added in 🦇 🕷️ 👻 🎃. After the 31st, I’ll pull down those few things and add in some 🦃. My back porch display has the same idea, getting a lot more use out of my time and $$ by starting with a more broad backdrop.

Take this same idea and apply it to Winter / Christmas, both inside and out!

I realize that there are a TON of new faces around here, so I wanted to take a second to introduce myself and my family!

I’m Sam, the grower & designer at Leona Rose Flowers. As you can see, it truly is a family affair around here!

As a wife & mom of 2 busy kiddos, the business is a part of our life, in between practices and playtime. During the school year, I moonlight as an elementary educational assistant, probably learning just as much from the kids as they do from me! You’ll find me working in the field both before and after school, and on the weekends you can catch me dropping off bouquets at Mocha Lisa Coffeehouse! (They’re awesome!)

As a seasonal florist, all of the flowers we use are either grown by us, foraged, or purchased from other area flower farmer friends (like, per say, there’s a drought and all of the weeds take over the lisianthus but I think they’re so beautiful and want to share them with you so I go get some from my flower farmer friend. Thanks, summer 2023. 😉)

Where one season ends, another begins! *October 1st means 2024 subscriptions are open for purchase on my website or through DM! *
October 1 - 31st, subscriptions will be available at this year’s pricing. After that, there will be a slight increase for the 2024 season.
Subscriptions are the lifeblood of my business! By purchasing a subscription, you are literally helping to sow the seeds (as well as bulbs and plugs 😉) of the flowers you will be receiving next season! When the cutting off-season is upon us, this income helps to keep things moving and growing.

Same packet of Oklahoma Salmon seeds, 4 very different blooms found for seed saving! Each is so unique, a couple have an almost metallic quality to them.
When I plant these seeds out next year, there will more than likely be very few of these exact colorings. But there should be some, and bit by bit I’ll be able to pull them out, isolate them so there isn’t any cross pollination, save seeds, and do it all over again the next season!
It’s pretty exciting! Nature is cool.

I started working on a new bouquet wrapping technique today (currently I use pre-made sleeves - easy), and I think I’m in love! A few tweaks, but the look is classic and beautiful! (The pretty flowers don’t hurt. 😉)

This made-to-order bouquet is FULL of color and ready for a fun dinner party!

Today’s event was so fun! Vase painting and a flower bar with Creative Flex - Studio in downtown Racine. Such a fun and unique place! Mimosas, treats, painting, and flowers - what more can you ask for?!

These little bags are absolute lifesavers when it comes to keeping the dahlias 👌🏻! They keep the little munching bugs out that seem to have such an affinity for the flowers (especially the light colored ones!). It’s a bit of an extra step, but it makes a huge difference!!
