After a year of planning, it's finally here! The Great American Total Solar Eclipse is tomorrow! Join us at our Official Calico Rock Viewing Location at King City Park. King Park is located on Highway 56 in Calico Rock with the entrances to Park Street beside the Calico Rock Fire Station and Mitchell's Park Street Pharmacy.

Additional free viewing locations are at the Calico Rock Elementary School parking lot and the Masonic Lodge in Pineville on Highway 223. The Lodge will be selling pulled pork sandwiches, hamburgers and hotdogs starting at 11:00 a.m.

Viewing is also available at the Calico Rock High School parking lot for a $20 fee with all proceeds benefiting the Calico Rock High School Sr. Beta Club.

The partial solar eclipse will begin at 12:36 p.m. The total solar eclipse will begin at 1:52 p.m. and will reach maximum eclipse at 1:55 p.m. The total solar eclipse will end at 1:57 p.m. The partial solar eclipse will end at 3:13 p.m.

We invite you to worship at Cowboy Church in the Tip Wiseman Rodeo Arena on Park Street in Calico Rock at 10:00 a.m. Sunday. Next door to the Rodeo Arena on Park Street, the VFW will be hosting a Fish Fry from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Cost is just $15 for a complete meal!

It's not too late to participate in the Nine-Hole Disc Golf Tournament kicking off at 1:00 p.m. with lunch provided for participants by Calico Rock Lions Club. This event is located in Rand Park (follow the yellow signs off Main Street or Highway 56).

The Calico Rock Museum & Visitor Center will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to welcome visitors and provide helpful information for your trip. Our exhibits will be open, so it's a great time to tour the museum. Admission is always FREE.

There's food trucks throughout town, especially along Main Street, and lots of local restaurants open for breakfast and lunch.

So, the day starts with excitement. We are ready and eager to share the committee's hard work with everyone.

Kitty Docks controls Earl King Park with music and games for the day.

Rand Park has the Concert with Musuc from 10 to 6. Thank you, Jeannie Killiam, for putting this together. Come and hear the music, and there will be a food truck.

In the Museum 11 - 2, we are doing crafts about the eclipse for the kids with Nikky Webb, Judy Eldridge, Daniel Haley, and Barbara Willet, the NASA Eclipse Ambassador.

Come down and place your dot on the map showing where you are from.

It's finally Eclipse Weekend! There's a full slate of activities that we want to share with you, but we also want to remind you to fill your vehicles up with gas, have a little cash on hand, get your groceries, pick up prescriptions, and have the things you need in case we do have a large number of visitors in the area or the roads are congested either getting to or around Calico Rock. Many area businesses are closing or will close early on Monday in preparation for possible traffic issues. If you have any business on Monday, check to make sure they will be open and what their hours will be.

The most-up-to-date forecast from the National Weather Service shows just a 20% chance of rain with maybe a few clouds, but clear and sunny!

FRIDAY NIGHT
We will kick off our Eclipse Weekend on Main Street Friday night. The Masonic Lodge will be selling Polish sausages at Lemley's and the Opening Ceremony will be on Main Street across from the Calico Rock Museum at 6:00 p.m. featuring the Calico Rock High School Band.

Come watch a movie on the Grassy Knoll across from Knowles True Value. "E.T." will be screened at 7:45 p.m. There will be ET inspired snacks and glow bracelets available for sale and funnel cakes. This event is sponsored by the Pirate Nation Parent Group with assistance from CRHS Cheer.

SATURDAY
Come participate in the Family Fun Sun Run at King City Park at 7:30 a.m. Coffee and donuts will be sold. The race begins at 8:30 a.m. This event is sponsored by the Pirate Nation Parent Group.

There will be a HUGE concert in Rand City Park beginning at 10:00 a.m. and going until 6:00 p.m. Bands featured include Lipstick N Whiskey, Saxton Hatman, Erin Walters, Isabella Love and the Bella Love Band, and Ozark Mountain Bluesmen. The event is free, but donations will be accepted. There will be food trucks on site for purchases. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets for a great day of music and fun. This event is sponsored by the Calico Rock Community Foundation with generous support of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Tourism & Heritage.

In the Calico Rock Museum, there will be science games and activities for kids from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Back in King City Park, there will be a Calico Rock Eclipse Jamboree with picnic games, music and food from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. including face paintings, funnel cakes, lemonade and hot dog meals.

At 6:30 p.m., meet a NASA ambassador in Rand City Park following the concert!

The Calico Rock Museum will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to assist visitors.

SUNDAY

The Great American Total Solar Eclipse (the longest in US history) can be viewed from the Masonic Lodge on Highway 223; Earl King City Park; Calico Rock High School parking lot; or the Calico Rock Elementary School parking lot.

Then, join us for a closing ceremony on Main Street at 4:30 p.m.

WATCH THIS SPACE for the Great American Solar Eclipse viewing time. This time period depends on from where you are viewing it. For Calico Rock, check back to the FB page Calico Rocks the Eclipse. We will post the actual times tomorrow that we got from Dr. Paul Sugg. Those times will include the times that you need to be wearing the glasses and the time period when it will be safe to remove them. And, then again when you need to put them back on.
