We used unsulfured molasses without preservatives. Molasses is the syrup that is leftover from the process of boiling sugarcane juice to extract the sugar crystals. Molasses contains sucrose, glucose, and fructose (all types of sugar), as well as other nutrients such as potassium. The molasses in our mixture is intended to function as a sticker to bind the Tuber melanosporum spores to roots and other organic matter and to feed the spores.
