Is going darker less maintenance? I've been asked this question a lot lately and figured I'd share some insights.
✂️ YOU WILL STILL HAVE A GROWOUT. Sometimes it's easy to think that if you start getting your hair colored darker it'll blend in with your roots. However, getting any hair color will result in a different look than your natural color when your roots grow out. So unless you are going all natural, you will still need to have your roots touched up at some point.
✂️ DARK COLORS STILL FADE. Even though it looks rich and beautiful when you go darker now, it doesn't mean it'll stay like that forever. Just like your toner fades out of your blonde hair, dark colors can last a long time, but not forever.
✂️ HAIRCOLORS ALWAYS REQUIRE SOME LEVEL OF MAINTENANCE. It's just a fact that haircolors will require some work. That being said, some styles you can go longer in between appointments at the salon than others. Going darker isn't always one of those. But in the end, if you love getting your hair done you'll be coming back to the salon sooner than later anyways.
Switching up your style can be a lot of fun, but these are just a few insights to consider when going darker.
