BIG News and Exciting Changes for Erica and Affinity Counseling of Colorado!
Friends, I’m embarking on a new adventure! Starting January 16th, I’ll be living the nomadic life, beginning in Peru and exploring South and Central America for the foreseeable future. This decision wasn’t easy—I’ll miss my incredible friends, family, and community deeply. But my heart is calling me to reconnect with the adventurer within me, so I can continue supporting my clients and loved ones in creative and meaningful ways during these turbulent times.
While I’ll be traveling, my fully remote private practice, Affinity Counseling of Colorado, will remain open to support individuals, couples, and families across Colorado. If anything, this journey reflects my dedication to helping people navigate life’s challenges and reconnect to what truly matters. My own experiences of overcoming adversity inspire me to create a safe, secure space for those who feel unworthy or unsafe in their worlds.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I use cutting-edge, trauma-informed modalities like Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Brainspotting, and Somatic Experiencing to help my clients heal and grow. My practice is deeply rooted in my core belief that humans are wired for connection and thrive in environments of emotional security and compassion.
But that’s not all—this new chapter comes with some BIG plans for the future:
Affinity Pathfinder
I’m launching a coaching business that builds on my therapy expertise to reach even more people. Coaching will focus on helping individuals remove blocks to connection and creativity, aligning mind-body awareness, and fostering empowerment. Whether it's hosting workshops for performers to overcome creative blocks (already booked my first gig with Curious Theatre!), facilitating online support groups for emotional resilience and activism, or helping clients mobilize themselves in challenging environments, my goal is to provide tools for transformation.
A Self-Care Curriculum Expansion
After years of developing my self-care curriculum, including teaching my “Self-care in Theatre” course at MSU Denver, I’m excited to expand this work. I plan to turn the curriculum into a book and potentially an online course to make these essential tools for holistic well-being more accessible.
Staying Rooted in Colorado
Though I’m heartbroken to step away from my faculty position, I’m thrilled to remain involved as a member of the MSU Theatre Alumni Board. My connection to Colorado and the amazing people here remains strong.
This adventure marks a turning point not just for me personally but for how I serve my community. Whether through therapy, coaching, or self-care advocacy, I’m here to help people find connection, safety, and purpose—even in uncertain times.
Here’s to embracing the unknown and discovering new ways to heal, grow, and thrive—together. 🌟
