September 22,2024 the Autumnal Equinox . A time to plant a wild flower patch perhaps? In our studio are these lovely Northeast Pollinator mix seeds formulated for fall planting. They will emerge in spring! All instructions accompany each package. Have a lovely weekend.

September is a perfect time to garden. Many perennials look past their prime but deadheading and even cutting them back 6 inches and removing any tired foliage can not only make the garden look better but can create a new flush of growth and blooms. This does not include hydrangeas. Most perennial flowers can be cut back. If your unsure you can google the plant type. In our studio clippers for deadheading, twine for tying up those leggy plants,gardeners soaps, and hand lotion for after care. Did you know lettuce can be planted now? It’s warm enough to germinate the seed and these cool nights are perfect for growing. Happy gardening !

Most of the florals in this week’s bouquets are from our cutting gardens . Our roses are starting to produce some beautiful garden style blooms and peony too! They’re tucked in amongst our lace flowers ( Orlaya) and dianthus! More seasonal blooms to come! So many great things going on in this weekend . Opening of the farmers market today, and the first Barn Sale . Summer in Northport is the best!

My friend artist and gardener has a show of her wonderful paintings at the Her show “ Not just another pretty flower “ is inspired by her garden.Mary loves round things so throughout her garden you will pass round objects , sculptures large and small tucked in here and there. It’s such a pleasant surprise when you find one. In her peaceful garden you feel like a child and at any moment a garden fairy may be seen as she try’s to elude you. So when I was asked to forage and create arrangements for her show I had the pleasure of walking through her woodland garden buckets and clippers in hand . Sheer joy. I will share in another post her art with the arrangements that complimented them .
