Who doesn’t want to be us? Nobody! 🥂❤️
It was a double-header wedding weekend and we are still alive to tell the tale (barely 🤪). It began Friday with a fabulous mountain wedding in Colorado Springs celebrating Drew & Josh at the stunning . Then on Saturday it was off to Gering for Hally & Brady’s wedding at the beautiful . How lucky are we to get to have this much fun in two amazing locations with some of the best people?! Now to hydrate 🤣

Hi Lovelies! It’s been a minute since I’ve introduced myself, so let’s do it!
(I’ve never been known to deliver the “short version” so, you may want to pour a drink.)
I’m Danielle, 4th generation (maybe even 5th!?) born & raised NW Nebraska girl.
I married my high school sweetheart after I did a stint in Las Vegas, called off engagement to another guy and finally came to my senses. You can read that whole story at the link in my bio 🤪
We have two amazing blonde-haired, blue-eyed kiddos. Liv (7) and Cruz (almost 5). They are the best & worst of us both and we wouldn’t trade them for the world (although I’ve threatened to list them on Craigslist a time or two 🤣).
If you can’t tell, I’m very sarcastic and love to laugh. My favorite thing is enjoying a chilled glass of Sav. Blanc with my wildly talented group of friends and/or family on my patio or my mom’s deck. Or the or my MIL’s front porch or well, let’s be honest, anywhere there is good wine and good company 🥂❤️🥂.
The Highway 20 Collective is a play on US HWY 20, that runs right by my house and through the heart of my small hometown (and many others in the Good Life State) and the fact that I have a problem spending more than $20 on anything. I’m always searching for a deal, usually at Walmart 🤪 and I try to share my finds here!
I started this as a creative outlet after I left my job at to stay home full-time. It’s been a ride sharing parts of my life online, but it’s been incredible building this community 🥂🥂
I don’t have a specific “niche”—I share what I want, when I want. Could be makeup one day and cleaning tips the next. But, whatever I share I try to make it fun and helpful.
We have the most fun on stories, so catch me there.
My favorite month is September (it’s my birthday 🎉 month), my favorite color is any shade of pink (even though I rarely wear it), I have a Carrie Bradshaw-like closet (but you’ll typically find me in leggings), and I love to throw parties (even though I lose my mind during planning).

It’s official. I’m currently seeking a new day job because these two have moved on 😉🤣 Liv started 1st grade last week and Cruz started full-time preschool today. This mama is feeling a little lonely but I know they are in great hands and will do amazing things this year ❤️. Happy Monday All!

A long overdue post following an amazing last disco in the desert bachelorette to celebrate with the most incredible group of women. I was lucky to have the opportunity to spend some much-needed girl time with so many talented, hilarious, kind and thoughtful ladies.

At the Highway 20 Collective, we love a great style, a great deal and a great time. My name is Danielle and I started the Highway 20 Collective because I have a $20 problem. It seriously KILLS me to spend more than $20 on something, on ANYTHING. I am not kidding. It’s like this unwritten rule tattooed into my DNA . . . or just instilled in me by mother (like so many other wise and wonderful things she’s taught me—many of which will make appearances in this blog).
I may bend the rule every now and then for a stellar signature or classic piece. But I DAMN well better get to enjoy it for at least the rest of my life. Okay, maybe not that long, but I need to be in L-O-V-E.
When it comes to home design, I would much rather decorate with “random, old sh*t” (according to my husband) i.e. free or stuff I found in a field, than to just buy it. DISCLAIMER: I may swear on occasion. I feel like it adds to the literary caliber of my posts.
I guess I feel much more fulfilled recreating those “Pinterest-worthy” looks with sticks, antlers and garage sale finds. Classy, I know.
Outside of my mom, another contributing factor to this "problem" is my location. I live along Highway 20 in Chadron, Nebraska. Our area is considered “frontier and remote” and THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is TRUTH.
We are surrounded by pine trees, prairies and cows. The sunsets are breathtaking and people greet you with a smile. It’s the kind of place you leave and say you’ll never come back to—but then you do and you get married, have babies and create the life you never knew you always wanted.
However, for a girl with small-town roots but big city tastes, it can be a challenge. We have one stoplight and a Walmart. The closest shopping mall is 100 miles away. Outside of some great boutiques and mom n’ pop shops, sometimes our options can be limited.
But, ya’ll, it’s home and I love it, so as Tim Gunn says, I “make it work!”
I named my blog The Highway 20 Collective for a few reasons:
I literally cannot get anywhere without use of Highway 20. It runs right through the heart of my cute little hometown (along with many other small, equally adorable Nebraska towns).
Highway “20” – the “$20 “problem – clever play with the use of “20” . . . stay with me. . .
“Collective” because this will be a collection of the ideas, projects and things that I love.
So, here’s what to expect from the blog:
Tutorials for how to create great looks for less—from home, parties & events and fashion. Most will be from me and some will be from my friends. All will be helpful and entertaining.
Accessibility. I wholeheartedly believe in shopping local first. However, there will be times when I can’t find what I need locally. I also hope to have readers from all over, so I plan to post options which can be found online, along with plugs for local businesses whenever possible. #shoplocal
Fun, authenticity and some wine. I plan to work on these posts on Wednesday’s when the kids are at Gigi’s (a.k.a my mom) and after I clean my house. Don’t be surprised if I have a glass of Sav. Blanc at noon because it helps me feel inspired, less inhibited, and I am funnier if I am a little tipsy. If that offends you, you are not my people.
