Golden berries are one of my ALL TIME favorite fruits! 💛

Native to the Andes Mountains in South America, these tiny orange gems are bursting with a unique sweet-tart flavor, like a mix of pineapple and citrus. They’re perfect for snacking, making jams, adding to salads and accenting your boards.

I like to display them whole, add them to skewers or style them with a zig-zag cut for garnishment✨

Fun fact: these berries are encased in a papery husk that acts as a protective layer, similar to how a tomatillo grows! They’re considered a superfruit due to their nutrient rich profile, and have served dietary and medicinal purposes of indigenous communities in the Andes for centuries. I buy the Sun Belle Berries brand from Trader Joe’s which are grown in Colombia.

Let me know how you use these vibrant gems!💛

have you ever tried a yellow dragon fruit? 💛

——
while the nutritional value is the same as red and pink dragon fruit, the fruits are smaller and flavor is MUCH sweeter with notes of floral🌼

all variations are antioxidant-rich, packed with nutrients and high in fiber. if you’ve never tried one, the texture is soft and similar to a kiwi! here’s a few ways you can display this one-of-a-kind fruit:

→ slice into rounds or half moons and fan out
→ slice like an orange into wedges
→ half the fruit vertically and dice the flesh or use a melon baller, then display in the hallowed skin

the dragon fruit, or pitaya, is the fruit of several different cactus species native to northern South America. the fruits grow very similarly to prickly pear cactus fruits we see in Arizona!

I have been getting my yellow dragon fruit from ! they should feel soft to the touch when ripe and will be heavy for its size, indicating its high juice content.

the magenta pop of color of the red variation looks stunning on boards, but I much prefer the taste of the yellow - and it’s just as beautiful!

no matter the color, dragon fruit is a staple ingredient to elevate a board’s aesthetics💛
